Kankakee 33 Naz 26. Final

Tonight’s takeaways:

Naz’s run defense has picked up right where it left off in November they will have to figure out how to stop the bleeding if they want to find 5 wins this year.

The Naz offense also should find an identity pretty quickly because right now they look lost.

Naz also needs to find players that are willing to catch the balls thrown to them. That would be a tremendous first step in the right direction.

My dejected week 1 prediction:

Unless the defense figures out how to stop the run and the offense finds an identity, they may struggle to find 3 wins let alone 5.

A lot of cramps week 1.

K3 ran the ball well.

Naz Qb made a lot of big plays.

K3 will be a tough out in 6a

Naz may have a lot of difficulty getting to 5 wins.

agree to disagree on all your points except the cramping and naz not finding 5 wins. I’m sure Kankakee will be successful in their tough conference play this season and make it to the playoffs where they will enjoy success is that always tough non private school southern bracket but I don’t think they will be as tough an out as Naz made them look tonight.

So k3 didn’t run the ball well?

Naz qb didn’t make plays?

There weren’t a lot of cramps?

So k3 won’t be a tough out in 6a?

Lol

I don’t think in the box that’s best/biggest I have seen Naz but you still have to give credit to k3 that’s a huge win for their program. Hats off to Miles in his HC debut. There was definitely multiple points in the game where I thought Naz would end up on top and K3 responded well.

So much for agreeing to disagree but I’ll answer in order of question….

Correct. As I said Naz made them look really good tonight.

You originally said he made a lot of big plays if you’re changing it to say he made some plays then I guess we agree he certainly made a handful of plays that can be expected from a 3 year varsity starter.

The cramping was one of the two things we DID agree on.

I’m not sure what 6a will look like but I will stand behind what I said. They will have success in their top tier conference and then enjoy success on that super tough southern bracket void of private schools.

I will agree beating a school the caliber of Naz is and should be like the Super Bowl for a team like Kankakee. They should celebrate all season long maybe even buy a banner to hang

So many flavors out there. And yet, you choose salt.

So you agree with everything.

I think you have 5a confused with 6a. K3 is projected for 6a this year when they went to the state finals they were in 5. Not many privates in 6a regardless of area in the top 10.

And people wonder why there's distain for private schools in Illinois. Naz lost, accept it and move on. No need to downplay the loss and claim K3 has nothing to hang their hat on. They took down the 5A champs, tip your hat, work on your issues, and get better.

I’m struggling to find where I didn’t accept a Naz loss. Trust me no one is more down on Naz than I am. You clearly didn’t read my first post about my takeaways.

I happen to disagree with another poster’s opinions. This will happen from time to time. They beast a traditionally good team that maybe isn’t as good as all the hype was my opinion. I believe it was the other poster’s opinion too. You can’t say “Naz will struggle to find 5 wins this season” in one sentence and then talk about how their opponent was a world beater because they beat them in the next sentence.

Kankakee’s brightest spot as it was last year was the defense. They did what a good defense does and kept themselves in the game. That doesn’t negate the fact that the Nazareth offense for two years now has struggled to find any sort of identity and are missing a big name skills player for their QB go throw to. Which in my opinion leads to making defenses look better.

My last opinion is also agreeing with the poster. In 6a they will have some success. I happen to believe that partly is due to the lack of competition. Again we can’t ignore the fact that for years the chatter has been about the weaker 6a playing field and usually that down state southern bracket is also talked about in almost every class as to how much easier it is because it doesn’t have those evil recruiting privates.

Go ahead and pile on now but let’s catch up in week 10 when we see the brackets. I have a feeling there might be some more clarity then.

Pardon me but isn’t ESL in 6A?
