Three likely snoozers and one game that has some playoff implications.

Coal City (5-3) @ Streator (2-6)
Coal City got to experience the Comets last week. After a nice showing by CC in the first quarter, R-C eventually imposed their will. CC has improved throughout the year in my opinion, and Streator has packed it in. Streator's QB and WR are good players and might hook up for a score - maybe even 2, but they can't play defense and Coal City will roll 49-14.

Manteno (2-6) @ Wilmington (7-1)
Same story as above. Manteno has some decent young skill kids but can't stop the run. That's pretty much all you need to hear to know Wilmo will roll. Same score 49-14.

Herscher (1-7) @ Reed-Custer (8-0)
This game will just be ugly. I'd expect R-C backups in before halftime. 60-0.

Lisle (4-4)
@ Peotone (5-3)
Peotone has already basically locked up a playoff spot, but has pretty low playoff points. At 4-4, Lisle obviously needs this game to get in. There are probably a lot of similar sized schools that are rooting for the Lions, as any team smaller than SHG that can sneak in will help push SHG up. Calpreps has Tone as a 7-point favorite. Looking at common opponents, Peotone has played the good teams better than Lisle. Lisle is coming off a blowout over Manteno. What's it all mean? I have no idea, but I'll pick Lisle in an upset. Coach Parpet finds a way to get it done. 22-20

Coal City, Wilmington, and R-C all take care of business by halftime and then get everybody reps in the second half. Good tune-up games for the playoffs. I think all three teams have a great chance of getting out of the first round with the way they're all playing.

GOTW ... Lisle at Peotone should be a slugfest with both teams thinking playoffs. Lisle want's in and Peotone would definitely prefer going in with momentum at 6-3. I like the Devils at home. Peotone 27 Lisle 21.

RC keeps the magical season going with another running clock. Comets 66 Tigers 7

Wilmington also with a running clock. Cats run game too much for the Panthers to handle. Cats 49 Panthers 7

Coal City bounces back with a big win vs Streator. The Bulldogs can't stop anyone. Coalers 42 Bulldogs 14

GOTW- The Blue Devils are at home to take on the Lisle Lions. This is going to be a game where one turnover could determine the winner. The Blue Devils have been better lately taking care of the ball but the Lions are going to come in ready to try and become playoff eligible. I don't have a good feeling about this game at all. Peotone is a little beat up and Lions has everything to play for. Lions 20 Blue Devils 14

Herscher (1-7) @ Reed-Custer (8-0) Braidwood in a one sided affair. Herscher might want to start a running clock now. Comets are the real deal. Interested to see what happens in the playoffs Braidwood 56 Herscher 0

Manteno (2-6) @ Wilmington (7-1) Cats looking to get on a roll before the postseason and Manteno just needs the season to end. Cats big Wilmo 42 Manteno 7

Coal City (5-3) @ Streator (2-6) Coal City is in but 6-3 is a way better option than 5-4. Streator is Streator. Coalers finish the regular season with a solid win. Coalers 38 Streator 13

Lisle (4-4) @ Peotone (5-3) Lisle wins and they are in. last few years they have snagged these games as wins. This year...not so fast my friend. Tone is in but like the Coalers they want to be 6-3. I don't think this is close in the end. Blue Devils run away with it in the second half. Tone 35 Lisle 14

Herscher vs. Reed-Custer - I think we all know the story of this game. It won’t be close and the Tigers are ready for basketball while the Comets are looking towards the playoffs. This will be a tune up for RC while tho 2nd stringers get lots of time and it may be the last many see the field (other than Round 1) until the gauntlet of Byron, Princeton, Prairie Central, IC, and potentially SHG for the Comets to get past to win the title. Reed-Custer 56 Herscher 13

Manteno vs. Wilmington- very similar to the aforementioned game. Manteno is ready for the season to be over which was evident by their performance against Lisle. The Wildcats are prepping for the playoffs and look like they are improving week to week. 2A looks very likely for Wilmington but will Byron drop down and add to St. Teresa, Maroa, Bismarck, Tri Valley, Rockridge, and DuPec all trying to the Wildcats from winning again. Wilmington 48 Manteno 0

Coal City vs. Streator - the Bulldogs are focused on what should be another promising basketball season, maybe one of the best they have had in recent history. Coal City is hoping for a good draw for the playoffs and maybe win a game but getting past the second round will be tough if not impossible. Coal City 56 Streator 12

Peotone vs. Lisle - a very import game for both teams, Lisle looking to qualify and screw up all of the prognosticators predictions and Peotone is looking to improve their seed. Not that the difference between Princeton, IC, RC, or PC will change their destiny but a win is always better than a loss. Lisle has underperformed based on preseason expectations and Peotone has taken care of business against the teams they should beat. Expect more passing from both of these teams in hopes of catching the other one sleeping for a quick score. Both coaches do a great job of getting their guys ready to play. Peotone 36 Lisle 35 OT

I know everyone is picking a close game between Tone and Lisle but I really do not think it will be a close game. Tone was a couple of plays away in the Wilmo and CC games and Lisle has been blown out by every decent team they have played. Maybe the Lions amp it up here to win a play in game but I don't see that lasting very much past the first quarter or two

I hear ya. I definitely think Peotone is the better team. I think Lisle will bring it tonight though with the playoffs on the line and make it a closer game than it probably would be say week 5 or 6.

I agree that Tone has played better vs the better teams, but they’ve also inexplicably had some close games vs the bottom.
My pick of Lisle winning is definitely an upset, but not totally out of the question.
Sometimes weird shit happens on week 9.

Lisle winning would surely shake things up but I think Tone will bury them in the second half. Nice night for football though

Scorezone has that Lisle score the other way. Says Tone won 20-13.

Edit: It's fixed now.

Meanwhile , a few miles to the West ..... how far does Seneca go in the playoffs? Granted they haven't played anybody, but 9-0 is 9-0.

Gotta wait and see their draw. As a 1 seed i think they can get to the quarters in 2A with a decent draw.
