Who looks good in 6A?
Who's the CCL representative?
Who's the team we should be be talking about but we not?
And any other talking points

Not saying they are a contender, but Soucie has Bradley-Bourbonnais in 6A in his latest projection.
Kankakee has performed very well so far.
Quincy looks good too.

It’s still ESL in the south and C-G in the north though. Pretty big favorites.

Chatham is very good and could be even better next year. I don't think, however, they could beat East St Louis.

I'll be watching to see how the Flyers game with Edwardsville turns out for comparison purposes.

For me, ESL is the prohibitive favorite.

I am assuming (and I know Geneva is an uncertainty) that CG-Geneva-L-Ville will end up on the "north" side of this stupid geographic seeding.

For me, whoever is the home team in the matchup wins the game, so it's CG or Geneva that will represent the "north" region.

ESL should be favorites in that 6A championship game, but we all know that it's only on paper, and the game obviously needs to be played.

Fenwick is likely to be the only contender from the CCL/ESCC.

My best guess is shown below. It is the same ten teams ranked by the Associated Press, so there is no real revelation here. However, other than the teams ranked 1 and 2, my order does vary from the A.P. The record in parenthesis is the team's current record, and to the right of that is their projected final regular-season record.

1.) East St. Louis (4-0) 8-1
2.) Cary-Grove (4-0) 8-1
3.) Fenwick (3-1) 7-2
4.) Libertyville (4-0) 9-0
5.) Kankakee (3-1) 8-1
6.) Geneva (4-0) 8-1
7.) Lake Forest (4-0) 8-1
8.) Chatham Glenwood (3-1) 8-1
9.) Kaneland (4-0) 7-2
10.) Belvidere North (4-0) 8-1

Only East St. Louis, Kankakee and Glenwood seem likely to be in the southern half of the playoff bracket.

Before Cary-Grove fans get on my case, I have no idea who is going to win this weekend's game with Prairie Ridge. I decided to give the nod to the home team and therefore added a loss to the Trojan's final record, but it won't surprise me if they enter the playoffs unbeaten.

Cary Grove will TBC against Prairie Ridge but the game should be close as these two heavyweights punch each other. Most people wouldn't want it but I would like to see a 3rd place game in each class. After all Illinois has to have the money for few extra trophies with all their friggin taxes they steal from y'all!!! Are y'all taxed on the air ya breath?

EStL knows its place but if they can't play without getting 25 holding calls because they are too friggin..... lazy to block the correct way, they could be watching someone else play for the hardware!!!

ESL has NEVER loss a game due to holding calls. Not sure why you love typing such madness.

I want to preface this text by saying I absolutely love the CG/ESL rivalry- especially '21 game- Just amazing HS football. I am a CG fan (nephew played on earlier championship team) but I just enjoyed 21/23 games/teams for the pure awesomeness of the 2 schools & programs- the best of the best! So when I saw the statement about penalties- peaked my curiosity- went to IHSA state game website and look at stats (pretty cool if you are a stat geek) 2021 6A game penalty break down ESL 9 for 76 yds (most holding/motion) -heavy in 4th qt. CG 2 for 23 yds. 2023 Game ESL 7 for 46yds (mostly blocking/motion) CG 2 for 20yds. So would conclude in 2021 penalties (esp. last drive of game) most likely really did cost ESL the game. Not looking to stir pot- REALLY hope to see them back again this year slugging at out and NO PENALTIES for either side and the best team wins! Cheers!

Because they are very undisciplined and get only a fraction of the calls they should get. I shake my head because people think the holding shouldn't be called. Just let them play bullshit mentality sickens me. We had to run for every penalty we had do you want to know why or can you get it? Like conditioning, hitting in the chutes, and tackling drills I guess not having rules should go extinct!? When I played as an offensive lineman your arms couldn't extend outside the body and we leveled the bubble so Im glad that you can extend your arms today. Holding just shows how pathetically lazy a kid is and its wrong because, that kid on defense is working hard doing his job and NOT flagging a lazy player for holding... CHEATING is wrong in any CERN friggin world!!!

Both games ended with an interception on the last drive. No TD’s were called back. The only two drives that ESL didn’t score were right before half and the int to end the game. Holding penalties had absolutely nothing to do with losing the game.

Penalties did not cost the Flyers either game as they sometimes have more than that. Mistakes along with a good running game by CG

@AlabamaTimberwolf Based on this post you probably sucked as a lineman. Ever good lineman plays on the edge. Hence most of our lineman are in collage doing well. That's an aniquated and little league thought on line play

The game that really stands out for me where ESL had a ridiculous amount of penalties/holding calls was back when they played @ Rock Island a few years ago. They had something like 240 yards in penalties.

The also won that game 70-21.

As a coaching staff- in a big game (state championship) and you have 3x as many penalty yards as your opponent- some 15 yd. unsportsmanlike and def encroachment that give the off first downs- even though they might not "take back" a touchdown they are definitely ae seen maajor factor in why you lose a game- some might think its antiquated but if you do it at the next level- you aren't going to be playing much because there will be a someone of equal talent on your team who doesn't.

So college teams don’t get penalties? What about the NFL? The reality is ESL realized the narrative years ago and learned how to be successful regardless. Penalties have never been the reason why ESL loss a game.

The opposing team executing and playing their tails off is who gets credit for defeating ESL.

As stated earlier... our linemen play at the next level and play well. So let's examine the fact that ESL play teams and they get no holding calls at all but they can't block us. Make that make sense

For example we have 2 kids from that team 1 at illinois rated the best o lineman in the conference 1 at Alabama fighting for a starting spot. They'er blocking kids with collage resume. On the flip side our d is loaded and bringing pressure. But we have 3x more calls against us. In what world but yall's does that make logical sense.

I dont know, that game in Ohio some years back really seemed like the home cooking and extra large servings had an effect. Otherwise I tend to agree. Can't control the narratives and sometimes the narrative dictates the calls.

A weird fact... bnd(local paper) even if we won by 50 would post our penalty information. Now that's push a narrative

Regarding ESL line play and so called “laziness”:
I was going to post something to the effect that I’d take the opinions of the coaching staffs at SEC schools over the opinions of some random anonymous keyboard warriors.
I don’t believe Nick Saban was in the business of recruiting anyone other than the absolute best.

Yet we had the lead and gave up a bomb on third and long at the end. That was a great fun game. Would love to do it again but I’m sure that was all they wanted to handle.

Libertyville Cary grove in the semis should be sick. Lvilles offense is nuts and I’m sure CG will try to milk the clock
