We went up to Crete in 2018 got hosed by 1 point in the last 30 seconds... It will be good for Chatham to get some home cooking for a change!

How much has U-High improved? I see they have the same record as last year. I remember being shocked at how lopsided their game with Coal City was.

Being the left tackle on team that was blown out in Coal City last year, I can confidently tell you they’re MUCH better. Only a few of us were lost to graduation, and our replacements were much better. For instance, my replacement is going to Columbia for football. The team was very young, and have matured going into this year. Weiland is a phenomenal QB who can get the job done. The defense is very tough as well, with almost all of them being 2-3 year starters. The Pioneers were realistically 2 plays away from being undefeated and winning the conference, as compared to last year when 2 of their 3 losses were blowouts. The only real problem playing away from Hancock is the possibility of another mud bowl, which is not very friendly towards the air raid that U-High has mastered.

SHS @ ESL - tough draw for SHS... They found a way in, credit there. Good for the seniors to go out with a playoff appearance. I don't know if any SHS athletes have signed or are expected to sign to play collegiately, but this will certainly be their best opportunity to play a college-style program. ESL pretty big....
Prediction: ESL 46 SHS 13

CM @ Glenwood - I'm unsure on CM... I know they're typically pretty darn good. Glenwood has been an odd case this year, as has much of the CS8. Some nights they look like world beaters, others they play down to comp and seem pedestrian at best. I've only seen one of their games in it's (nearly) entirety, but if they get the offense rolling I could start to see a path to victory...
Prediction: CM 36 Glenwood 28

Jacksonville @ JCA - Jacksonville has size, there's some talent to go with it, but ultimately they're about to meet one of the premier programs in Illinois and I'm just not sure Jax has the dogs to put up a fight for long enough. Solid season for Jax though, that O-line gets my tip of the cap... them's some big ole boys doing some dirty work. Defensively, I just can't see Jax stopping the JCA offense whatsoever.
Prediction: JCA 49 Jax 6

SHG @ Mahomet - I've mulled over this one the most out of the CS8 playoff pairings. I think Coach Allison said it best in the Channel 1450 video about playing every snap like they did last week in the 2nd half. If so, I like SHG in this one by a score or two...
Prediction: SHG 35 Mahomet-Seymour 27

U-High @ Manteno - I really like this U-High offense... what a special thing to watch on video. I haven't seen Manteno... but good luck stopping that passing game.
Prediction: U-High 47 Manteno 21

PND @ Rochester - Rockets should cruise... DL gave us his annual "if we don't show up, they're really good at football, they'll beat us..." talk in the hype video at 1450.com. I mean, he's right, of course, but let's be real here coach... PND vs Rochester? We're comparing Oreo's to Fudge Stripes here coach! (sorry, cigaros, couldn't help myself)
Prediction: Rochester 42 PND 14

Flora @ QND - Hopeful QND can put this away early. The Raider faithful are looking ahead to a very juicy matchup on paper with a certain 2A Macon County powerhouse... the team is certainly not at this point though, thankfully. I've only found clips of Flora online so I don't know much of what to expect out of them, but I like QND by at least a few scores... QND has really controlled the possession of late, I like that heading into more meaningful games. The Raider attack isn't prolific like U-High, or stout and bulky like Jax... They rely on the defense to make their statements. And to this point, since losing in week 1, the defense has spoken quite firmly and loudly about their intentions...
Prediction: QND 48 Flora 13

I want to see how SHS comes out and plays. Yes they are 50 pt underdogs but..... When I played I came out like a bull and when the dust cleared I did what I wanted because I had nothing to lose. I coached players to play the same way. Hit them in the mouth on every play and see if they actually have fight in them. I want to see SHS come out and punch EStL every play until the game ends. Ya know... Go out like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid shit! With all of that said... EStL 58-14

Friggin Crete!!!! This time its at home! These kids have had their minds on a "deep run" in the playoffs and it cost them against U-High, so now that the stage is set and all the talking is over, I want to see what they have besides talk. Crete will be a challenge but... I feel the Titans will grab this game by the throat and squeeze until the end. Chatham 42-21

SHG and Mahomet. How much motivation and energy is in the tank after the last two weeks playing, their rivals (Chatham and Rochester) and losing like they did??? These kids today waste so much energy and emotion on celebrating every damn play that SHG has to be on "EMPTY" as far as emotions goes. MS has played some tough teams and some cupcakes but they have moximojo going for them. MS 35-21

U-High came out against Rochester and Chatham with my mindset. Come out and hit people in the mouth from start to finish. They nearly beat Rochester and they kicked the horseshit out of Chatham. I don't think Manteno is ready for what awaits them. U-High 48-14 and the only reason this game isn't something like 68-6 is U-High will put in its JV for experience next season.

Rochester and PND. Rochester is jelling right now and that spells trouble for PND. Rochester 38-24

Flora and Da Raduhs. Unless QND thinks all they have to do is walk on the field to get this win this game will be over by the half! 49-14

If U-High can get the job done against Manteno, I think they have a very favorable path to make a run. If Olney wins, I think U-High has a great shot at beating them given their weak schedule.
Olney has never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever...... ever seen an offense as potent as U-High's is this year. At least not with the schedule they played this year.

I'm going to be watching the U-High defense the closest here in rounds 1 and 2... The key to the run for U-High remains if their defense can do enough to give their offense a chance to carry them. If U-High's defense clicks for the next few weeks... sky is the limit until the semi's. But don't sleep on Cahokia in the quarters. They seem legit this year.

All.... Back from the game. SHG 24 Mahomet-Seymour 21 . Bulldog QB is as good as they say. Cyclones up by ten late after trailing 7-3 at the half rally with a long td pass and win. A monster amount of mistakes in this game for them but round two next week. Ratsy

Chathams play calling is suspect!!! When you think you should pass they run and vice versa... I just shake my head. Chatham "trying" to burn clock and when teams try to do this, knowing they can't run the damn ball, it usually ends badly!
