CPL Pick 'Em Playoff Edition!!

It's Thursday. That means one thing. HOT CPL Thursday Action! Actually, there is no CPL Action tonight, leaving me having to watch the Falcons and Panthers...which, coincidentally, is very similar to sitting at Eckersall and watching a lower level CPL matchup. But, we do have CPL teams in action this week! On to the picks!

CPL Playoffs

I've heard you can't teach a cat how to have kittens. You also can't get a Gately dog if the stadium isn't open for the CPL Playoffs.

Taft's offense has been on a tear the last couple of weeks in the CPL Playoffs. I'd roll with one of those "racking up so many points that they might break the scoreboard this week" jokes, but since it's at Lane, the scoreboard is probably broken already.

It's said that the only guarantees in life are death and taxes. I'd say is also guaranteed that if Morgan Park loses this one, there will be a whole bunch of complaining about the terrible referees.

The one and only time I spent any time in Lamont, I was driving down that main road and saw an old school big Blatz Beer neon over a bar sign. Blatz was my grandpa's beer, so I stopped...Cash only. Blatz on tap. God Damned Glorious. Needless to say I stayed awhile at Tom's. Honestly, it's going to be cold. Lamont is going to roll. If I was heading that way, I would just roll in there, grab 33 Blatz drafts and try to get it on the livestream.

Sad to believe we only have a few weeks left. With new Chicago Prairie League coming for the CPL acronym I hope we get some exciting Week 1 and 2 matchups in the future to claim the real CPL crown!

Sitting at the Hig the other night per usual and a Taft old timer is overheard at the other end of the bar going on about Taft Phelps. I was really confused, couldn't tell if he was drunk slurring his Phillips pronunciation or not so I leaned in to listen a little closer. Turns out he wasn't talking about FB he was talking about William Howard Taft's kid Charles Phelps Taft who apparently goes by Phelps. Phelps Taft who knew. Learn something new every week, just like Taft's new found offense. Guess that means we need to go with new stuff and the Eagles in an upset.

Interesting tidbit about Lemont, the old downtown area was known Smokey Row where the bars and brothels drove the population to explode making it into being called the wildest most sinful street in the country. Makes me think Lemont should be called the Vices. Can't pick against that, Smokey Row!
