Everyone knows the best varsity football is played on Thursdays at 3:30, or Saturday at 9am. The science on this has been settled, or has it? The Friday 3:30 start wants to be invited to the party! Cut out of work early, grab some grub and get to the game! All 3:30(ish) games on the slate this week. On to the picks!
Lincoln Park vs Chicago Academy
Be honest. For as snooty as Chicago Academy sounds, you'd think it would be in Lincoln Park.
Fenger!
South Shore vs Julian
I find South Shore extremely fun to say. Real tongue twister. Not like, "Surely Sylvia swims!” shrieked Sammy surprised. “Someone should show Sylvia some strokes so she shall not sink.” OR "I saw Susie sitting in a shoeshine shop. Where she sits she shines, and where she shines she sits. OR "Six silly sisters sitting sadly sawing six silk sacks." But fun nonetheless..
Seashells!
Crane vs Collins
Alliteration? Come on, this is too easy... Check this one out: "Clean clams crammed in clean cans. New cheese, blue cheese, chew cheese please. A chapped chap chopped chips. A cheeky chimp chucked cheap chocolate chips in the cheap chocolate chip shop!" Cheeky Chimp!?!? Hahahahahahahahaha
Cans of Clams!
Corliss vs Dyett
Fun fact. Corliss is Gaelic for small round hill. Fun fact 2. Dyett (surname) means the son of Dionisia. Pretty sure I heard Dionisia said "no son of mine is going to grow up bad at football." No way a small round hill can compete with that parenting.
Corlisssssss!
Taft vs Amundsen
Look, Friday looks to be the first real fall-type day of the year. Sunny with a bit of a chill in the air. Leaves turning. Pumpkin Spice everywhere. The fine residents of Lincoln Square and Ravenswood taking the opportunity to show off the latest in the fall line of Lululemon while pushing the best in stroller technology. Actually going in to Winnemac stadium for this game on a day like that is a crime against everything I believe in.
