CPL Pick’em Week 5

Week 5 is here and I am still trying to figure out some of the shockers from last week. Bogan best Harper, Crane beat Rowe Clark, Sullivan beat King, Lake View beat South Shore, CVS beat Mather and Perspectives beat Hubbard! And the Fenger vs Kelly game got postponed. I’m still shocked and am down a decent amount of money from these losses so on to week 5!

Corliss vs Noble Comer
Both start with the letter C. Comer sounds like Conant, Corliss so like chord less. Comer comes first in the alphabet but if you call them Noble Comer then Corliss would be first alphabetically. There’s a lot going on here. Brooks does or used to coach at Corliss and there’s nothing that say CPS like Brooks reffing wrestling and talking about oil checks.

Kennedy is on a 2 game winning streak. Rauner is still trying to get over the election loss.

CICS Longwood vs Fenger
Fingers…Longwood…feel like we could go a lot of places with this. Fenger with an extra week of rest and Longwood coming off a loss.

Crane vs Juarez
Crane is a medical preparatory high school so they can hurt you and then fix you. Juarez just hurts those watching their play.

Lindblom vs Brooks
Lindblom used to be pretty good. Then the coach left, then they hired a guy, he left before coaching a game then they hired another guy. Hasn’t worked out great. Brooks has a blue field. Boise State has a blue field. Any good gambler knows you never pick against Boise when they play on their blue field. Not sure if Brooks is at home, not sure it matters against Lindblom.

I miss the old coaches of Curie before LaRay LaLeft. Those coaches were real snappy dressers and liked to run the reverse which is always a fan favorite.

Chicago Military vs Washington
George Washington used to run the Military, was pretty good at it too. If this was George Washington against the US Military this would be questionable. George Washington against the Chicago Military, well not so much.

So excited CPS Pick em' is out on Wednesday. I got super excited about it because I thought CPS might do something similar to the MAC and have games on Wednesday. Nothing beats Wednesday night MACtion in November! Come on CPS, you already own Thursday at 4:15. I need a Wednesday at 5 game! On to the picks.

Still confused about these Noble schools. Are they CPS schools? Of course, if I actually knew about them, this might not be as fun. Either way, Comer sounds like Comb over. A good comb over always makes me laugh. Can't pick a team that I openly laugh at.

Beating Rauner sounds like a patriotic thing to do. Pick Kennedy.

Fenger
There is another thread about your favorite HS Team in Illinois. Obviously, everyone that doesn't pick Fenger is wrong.

Crane vs Juarez
Cranes are used to pick things up and move them to other places. Juarez is a city in Mexico. No connection, just wondering if this is a high school football game or a construction order.

Lake View vs Hyde Park
Sounds like a travel brochure for a great place to visit. Unfortunately, it is a football game that I would not like to see. Take Lake View.

Lindblom vs Brooks
Brooks has smurf turf? Always loved Smurfette. If I say anything else, it will be creepy.

Lincoln Park vs Lane
20 years ago Lane wins this by 50. Lane will be lucky to make it to the 50 in this one.

Curie keeps coming up in my Twitter feed. Based on the tweets, you'd think they are undefeated and the entire team is going D1. Surprised to see they are 1-3 and going nowhere.

Look. If there is a military contest, seems silly to bet against the father of our country. .

Classic Blue Collar vs Blue Blood matchup. Give me the shop floor guys every time.

I always thought Bogan and De La Salle had the best looking jerseys in the mid 90s. The days of Bob Jurka are long gone.

They used to be considered similar to a Suburban school.I remember all the nice Asian kids waiting on the bus & seeing them at the White Castle

Man I woke up this morning hungry. Thought there could only be a few things that could really satisfy my hunger. First thing of course is CPL football in all its glory, it is Thursday after all. Second thing was a big ol beef sandwich, nothing says game day like some quality beef. So all this got me thinking if I'm this set on beef already maybe I should just make my picks with that in mind, very random yes but so very CPS too...

Corliss vs Noble Comer - Corliss definitely seems hungrier than Comer.

Kennedy vs Noble Rauner - Kennedy over Rauner, no Rauner has ever been good or hungry for that matter.

CICS Longwood vs Fenger - Definitely don't want Longwood on my beef.

Crane vs Juarez - Juarez is the pick for sure, have to get that beef spicy with the hot peppers.

Lake View vs Hyde Park - Hyde Park is way too far South to go for beef. Take Lave View.

Lindblom vs Brooks - Blue turf at Brooks? Makes me think of Blue Cheese, that stuff is nasty on steak, salad (haha, yeah right like I'm eating that), or hot wings definitely not getting any where near my beef. Lindblom it is.

Lincoln Park vs Lane - If Lane were ever good again, there could probably be a good beef between these schools, but until that happens (hint: never) take LP.

Hubbard vs Curie - Madame Curie and all her nobel prizes? Nope.. You know who opened the very first meat packing plant in this great city? Yup, Gurdon Hubbard.

Chicago Military vs Washington - Chicago Military is the no doubter here, only place you get high quality beef is Chicago.

Foreman vs King - Need a recommendation for beef? Go to any foreman on any work site. Never ask a King.
