I was at the school today for the monthly alumni luncheon. Coach Kuska gave his season recap and sort of a career recap also. He's looking forward to the All-American Bowl and seeing the best players in the country. I asked him how many players he had in the game over the years. He's has three Kaleb Brown, Darius Fleming and Ryan Donahue. Some one else asked how Conor Talty was not picked. It was explained the Talty had committed to the 2023 Polynesian Bowl earlier before the Alabama offer or he would have been Todd's fourth All-American. I guess you can't play in both games. Smart kid he gets a week paid vacation to Hawaii. Incoming freshmen class may be the most talented in a couple of decades. This is also the fastest they have gotten back the first 50 registration packets, and most of the kids are from the core/neighborhood parishes. I'm already bored waiting for the fall season.

There will be a ton of talent in that building if things keep up. Interestingly, the basketball program is garnering a lot of National attention these days. Football needs to keep up! 😀

Huge win at Top team BR last week.

Todd talked for 10 minutes at the luncheon and had to leave to teach his anatomy class. Then the basketball coach took over. Said he’s got a great group of kids. The transfer from Lemont is flourishing in the school. Less chaos in a same sex Catholic school. At SR he’s just one of the guys. Coach has the team playing a killer schedule. Besides only having one home game in December and only one in January they are play a lot of tournaments against some very tough competition. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Coach Izzo from Michigan State was at the game the other night. With this much talent coach Russell says ego has not been a problem. The kids know that on any given night each may be the go-to guy and winning is more important than individual stats. I talked to Coach Russell before the luncheon started. Great personality and very approachable unlike a lot of high-profile basketball coaches in the area. I had talked to several of the players at the SR/MC football game at MC. They are great kids and very respectful of the alumni. And good sense of humor.
