Your score was ahead of my stream. Last play with 0:01 left and so I knew the ending had to be something wild!
They did a few weeks ago. Highland beat Mascoutah 56-0 in week 8
That ending was wild! lol I was rooting for Highland because I wanted to see them against Peoria next week. I thought that would be a good game. Not so sure about how Mascoutah will do, but I'll be rooting for them.
ESL has one of the best defenses in the entire state.
From losing by 56 to winning by 13. Im going to go out on a limb and say thats the biggest point swing in a season in ihsa history.

Did Highland have any major injuries? We’re and players out of the game for any reason? Did the team stay up late? Lol. Was Highland just looking ahead of this game? Something happened.

Mascoutah comes up with the most improbable playoff wins. First they beat Joliet Catholic several years ago, and now this. I do not know how you lose to a team 56 to 0, and then beat them three weeks later. I will take criticism for saying this, but I don't think the Mascoutah coaching staff does a good job of getting their team to play consistently hard week after week. You know in the playoffs Highland was motivated today. That means Mascoutah did not even come close to playing up to their potential three weeks ago. Effingham lost to Highland by 14 points, and Mascoutah lost by 56. No way is Effingham 42 points better than Mascoutah. Mascoutah laid down on the job three weeks ago.

As you should not but it’s disgraceful if it happened or just as bad to accuse falsely.
I’m still gathering my thoughts on this one, but here are some stats:

-Mascoutah had not won at Highland since 2006

I think what it came down to was getting the ball in the hand of their best play makers. They have two super athletic wideouts that seemed to come down with every jump ball. Allen Middelton, one of the wideouts, took a ton of snaps out of the wildcat. His ability to bounce it outside was a total game changer.
Mascoutah also won the battle in the trenches, which was a total shocker to me because that has been Highland's strength and Mascoutah's weak point whenever I've watched them.
Honestly, I felt like Mascoutah outplayed them a lot more than the score showed. Not that I felt Highland played bad, but just that Mascoutah was seemingly unstoppable. I still don't fully understand how it happened, but what a performance by the Indians.
Only other time I remember seeing anything like this was Aledo and Cullen Welter getting their payback vs. Rockridge way back in 1998. After a 49-0 regular season loss, they won 25-16 in the title game.
