I’m confused as to what happened towards the end.
2:47 on the clock, DST 4th and 1. DST seemingly called a TO and went to sideline huddle. Clock continues to run. TV coach starts questioning/complaining at about 2:20…clock then stops. No TO called.
End result clock resumes, DST lines up for the play and TV eventually calls a TO with under 2:00. Play clock shoulda clearly expired I woulda thought…. A DST penalty forces a punt situation, but it seems like a decent amount of time was lost there. TV got ball and drives down but incomplete pass in end zone as time expired.
Overall was a great game with DST winning 29-22. TV too many missed opportunities early and ran out of time at the end.

Refs screwed up but are not allowed to go to video review which is stupid. Probably cost TV the TD at the end, should have had another 30-35 seconds easily.

After the coach noticed and was throwing a fit he chose not to call timeout. There was like 2:18 left on the clock so they had already lost almost 30 seconds but he spent all that time arguing and then chose to call a timeout with 1:59 left. He lost a lot of time and they got screwed BUT he could have saved himself 19 seconds if he called the timeout instead of running around the field yelling at people.

do the math how does clock go from 2:45 to 1:56 without a penalty for delay?

Decatur should have also been penalized for coaches on field with no timeout being called , big cluster that was and refs cost tri valuable time

Agree with the refs screwing up for TV but the fathom false start call was actually the bigger blunder and TV made out with the better hand on that.

TV not knowing how to run a 2 min offense killed then.

If he called a timeout instead of throwing a fit they probably win the game. If I were the coach I would probably be throwing a fit too, I get the emotions but even losing those 30 seconds if he just called the timeout when they realized it saves about 20 seconds.

I have no idea what was happening with the officials and that definitely should not have taken place but he made a big problem into a bigger problem by not calling the timeout.

You mean they shouldn’t have been running plays in to a huddle while the clock was only stopped for the reset? Lol

he was thinking the time out had been called and he didn't need to because all the DST coaches were on the field.

And then at 2:18 he realized that wasn’t the case. He chose to take a timeout at 1:59 or 1:56, whatever it was.

Did the ref announce it as a false start or the announcers? It looked more like an illegal formation

if you see an entire coaching staff on the field do you not assume there is a time out and they will fix the clock without you needing to burn a timeout you will need later? I'd be curious how much time was on the play clock when he had to use a timeout since over 50 seconds had already elapsed and it was still not a delay.

Ref signaled false start, though only thing line judge coulda saw was right guard slightly adjust stance (don’t think was false start anyways ) and he didn’t seem to blow play dead right away either

And they picked up flag for coaches being out there!

They signaled the 25 second play clock to start at 2:18 I believe.

A terrible few minutes for the officials and the mistake was 100% correctable. I bet they is the last Championship game for this crew. May or may not have been the difference in the game but it is definitely a terrible look on the officials on the big stage.

Am I correct they are not allowed to consult replay?

That’s not the issue. The issue is that St. T planned to call a Timeout and did not call the timeout yet all coaches were on the field while TV was still on the field ready for the next play. Officials then flag for delay of game, waved it off, and the clock ran and it could have been corrected without replay.

My guess is the communication between officials did not work and St. T waster beneficiary of the mistake.

Then it’s simple, kill the clock. The white hat and BJ have the clock in most cases. If it’s running and you see it running while you’re trying to sort things out, kill it and readjust. It’s a bad miss for a title game crew
