Impact Player for Reed Custer:
Senior QB Jake McPherson had a huge junior season in 2021 for the Comets, and much is expected again from him this fall. McPherson was a true dual threat signal caller for Reed Custer, passing for over 1,200 yards and 22 touchdowns while also running for nearly 900 yards rushing while also running for 8 touchdowns. The Comets will no question look towards McPherson's experience and leadership on the field this fall.
EDGY's Quick Take on the Reed Custer Comets:
The Comets (10-2) and head coach Gavin Johnston posted a school record season in 2021, leading Reed Custer to an impressive 10-2 record and the school's first ever state quarterfinal appearance. The Comets will welcome back 15 returning starters including 9 names back on defense this fall, and will be considered one of the top teams in the tough Illinois Central Eight conference along with being a potentially Top 10 preseason ranked team in 3A this coming fall.
