Senior DL Roderick Pierce III (6-foot-2, 290 pounds) is already holding multiple Power 5 scholarship offers this spring, and Pierce III is a big, physical and highly athletic interior big man and a huge key again this fall inside for the Crusaders defense.

The Crusaders (10-3) posted a strong 2021 season as the Crusaders made it to the Class 7A state semifinals before losing to eventual state champion Wheaton North to end the season with a 10-3 overall record. The Crusaders will reload under new head coach Casey Quedenfeld and Rice will need to replace 17 graduated starters from a season ago this summer. Brother Rice will rely on a handful of key starters back along with a deep and talented underclassmen group this season. Despite the heavy graduation losses including do it all QB Jack Lausch (Northwestern) this Rice team has a ton of underclassmen names who will emerge this season. Look for Rice to become a much more dangerous team each week the regular season progresses.
