Impact Player for Wilmington
Senior RB/LB Colin James (5-foot-8, 160 pounds) is a terrific all around football player as well as a high motor speedy and twitchy athlete for the Wildcats. james, who will be a multi-year starter this fall for Wilmington will again be asked to carry a large part of the Wildcats power option run game as well as become a leader in the Wilmington defense. Look for James to draw additional recruiting looks and attention this summer and fall.
EDGY's Quick Take on the Wilmington Wildcats:
The Wildcats (14-0) posted an undefeated 2021 season and captured the Class 2A state title. Wilmington defeated Chicago Julian, Sterling Newman Central Catholic, Bishop McNamara and Tri-Valley before beating Nashville for the 2A state title. Wilmington will again reload this summer and welcomes back a handful of key starter back from the 2021 state title team. The biggest question facing the Wildcats this summer is can they once again reload and keep winning game at the highest level? Getting another season in Class 2A no question benefits this team and program, which is also well coached by a veteran staff starting with head coach Jeff Reents. Regardless of the talent level, Wilmington is always well prepared. I look for Wilmington to again be the favorite in the Interstate Central 8 and to again be one of the top ranked teams in Class 2A all season long.
