Impact Player for St Francis:

Senior OL/DL TJ McMillen (6-foot-3, 280 pounds) is already verbally committed to Illinois, and McMillen will be a four year varsity starter this season for the Spartans. McMillen, who is indeed the son of St Francis head coach Bob McMillen is an unquestioned impact player and leader for St Francis has the ability to take over a game upfront on either side of the line.

EDGY's Quick Take on the St. Francis Spartans:

The Spartans (8-3) made the 2021 Class 4A state playoff field beat Peoria Notre Dame in opening round action before losing to Genia Kingston in the second round to end the season. St Francis welcomes back a very strong core of experienced starters on both sides of the football, and the overall talent level remains high for the Spartans program. The Spartans schedule remains strong including opening game at Lake Forest and hosting 5A power Sterling in Week 2 along with a potentially huge Week 9 game at ICCP. The biggest question for the Spartans is are they ready to step up and hang with and beat the powers programs in 4A this coming season? The likes of say defending 4A state champion JCA, Richmond Burton along with several strong downstate programs (SHG/Rochester) could all end up in the St Francis path to U of I this season. Look for the Spartans to again challenge to win the Metro Suburban conference along with being a state title contender in Class 4A.
