Impact Player for Sandburg:

Senior OL Zach Barrett (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) will be a multi-year varsity starter for Sandburg this coming season. Barrett has been drawing various FCS/D2 recruiting looks and attention and will continue to draw more attention this fall.

EDGY's Quick Take on the Sandburg Eagles:

The Eagles (5-5) made the 2021 Class 8A state playoff field and lost to Hinsdale Central in opening round action. Sandburg head coach Troy McAllister was able top get his team on the same page, and the Eagles shocking Week 6 30-27 win on the road at Lincoln Way East was one of the highlights for Sandburg last season. Look for Sandburg to rely on a steady group of returning starters back this season (including 8 starters back on offense) while also looking for the underclassmen class to step up and fill some holes at a few key positions (RB/LB/DB). The biggest question for Sandburg this summer is how much ground can the Eagles gain after showing some real flashes of better days ahead in 2021? Sandburg Eagles fans should be getting excited about the progress on the field under Troy McAllister.
