Impact Player for Oswego:

Senior TE Deakon Tonielli (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) is already verbally committed to Michigan. Tonielli is a big, strong and very physical receiver who can and will play TE/WR as well as some defensive end this fall for the Panthers. Oswego senior QB Cruz IBarra is a multi-year varsity starter who is also a name to watch this season for the Panthers.

EDGY's Quick Take on the Oswego Panthers:

The Panthers (6-4) made the 2021 IHSA Class 8A state playoff field and lost to Glenbard West in opening round action. The Panthers and head coach Brian Cooney have continued to rule the Southwest Prairie, having won the conference title in 2021 and always has a major say in the conference year in and year out. The Panthers will no question need to reload a bit this summer, including on defense with just 2 returning starters back in the fold this fall. The Oswego program always finds a way to reload, and the offense has some key names to watch and look for the Panthers offense and big/physical offensive line to help a younger and less experienced defense time to develop this fall. The schedule again is solid early, including taking on neighborhood rival Neuqua Valley along with a much improved conference this season and I can see Oswego having a shot at defending it's conference championship, but that road will be much harder this season.
