Impact Player for Richards:

Senior QB Joe Mayo (6-foot-4, 175 pounds) has a ton of upside and potential and Mayo will be asked to provide some serious production this season. Mayo will no question have a chance to impress college coaches with a strong showing this season. .

EDGY's Quick Take on the Oak Lawn Richards Bulldogs:

The Bulldogs (8-3) made the 2021 Class 6A state playoff field, defeated Simeon in opening round action then lost to East St. Louis in second round action to finish the season. The Bulldogs and veteran head coach Tony Sheehan will welcome back a nice core of returning starters including 7 starters back on offense. The Bulldogs schedule is again pretty stacked including non conference games against Morgan Park and Marist. The biggest question facing Richards this summer? Can the Bulldogs reload a bit on defense at a few key spots (DL/LB)and also hopefully avoid running into East St Louis early in the 6A state playoff field in 2022> The state power Flyers have ended the last two seasons in East St Louis for Richards by a combined 114-0 score. Look for the Bulldogs to be the favorite to win the South Suburban Red and to again make the 6A state playoff field in 2022.
