EDGY's Quick Take on the Mundelein Mustangs

The Mustangs (4-5) just missed out on qualifying for the 2021 IHSA state playoff field and came up short in a few close losses to Grayslake Central and Lake Forest. The Mustangs under head coach Vince DeFrancesco has continues to make positive strides with the football program at Mundelein, and the next hurdle for the Mustangs is indeed getting into the IHSA state playoff field. The last time Mundelein made the IHSA state playoff field? 2004 and the program has been IHSA state playoff bound just twice in school history (2002/2004). The biggest question facing the Mustangs this summer is can Mundelein develop a starting quarterback this summer and can they continue to add more overall numbers and depth? No question I believe this is a nice potential storyline to follow in 2022.
