Impact Player for Highland :

Senior QB/S Brent Wuebbels (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) will be a rare 4 year varsity starter and two way impact performer for Highland. Wuebbels, who is a dual threat quarterback and defensive back will continue to draw increased recruiting looks and attention this summer and fall.

EDGY's Quick Take on the Highland Bulldogs:

The Bulldogs (5-5) made the 2021 Class 5A state playoff field and lost to Morton in opening round action. The Bulldogs and head coach Jim Warnecke welcome back a ton of experienced starters including several who are multiple year starters as well. The Bulldogs will look towards that experience to help them get past a very touch early non conference schedule, and then onto the rugged Mississippi Valley conference race. The biggest question for the Bulldogs this summer? Can Highland close out and win close games this season? The Bulldogs lost close games last season to Washington (30-20), Edwardsville (41-33) and Troy (31-26) and I expect this team to be much more ready to hang on and win those right games this season. Look for Highland to draw serious consideration to become a state ranked team in Class 5A this preseason.
