2022 Team 7on7 or Team Summer Camp?

7on7 in Champaign on June 16th
No team camps planned other than our regular summer practices

Impact Player for Marist:

Senior DB John Nestor (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) who is already verbally committed to Iowa is a big time ball hawk and hitter who will be asked to be an even more vocal leader for the Redhawks this season, Nestor, who has impressive speed and quickness and physical tools is also a high energy guy who possesses a non stop motor. I would not be shocked to see Nestor play on both sides of the football if needed this fall for the Redhawks.

EDGY's Quick Take on the Marist Redhawks:

The Redhawks (9-4) finished dead last in the 2021 CCL/ESCC Blue conference in 2021, yet which is almost always the case even the last place team is a very strong and dangerous post-season team from the CCL/ESCC Blue. Marist made the 8A state playoff field and defeated Glenbard East, South Elgin, Glenbrook South then lost to Maine South in the Class 8A state semifinal round. The Redhawks graduated a very strong senior class from the 2021 squad this past spring and in many ways look for Marist to reload at several positions this summer. Marist and head coach Ron Dawczak always has talent and the Redhawks have some key D1 names this season in senior WR Ryan Sims (Miami of Ohio) along with senior S John Nestor (Iowa) plus senior DT Jamel Howard (Wisconsin). The biggest question is can Marist win right out of the gates with a team that's a bit shorter on game day experience at some key spots, especially in the offensive skills group? This is a Marist team that will no question get better and improve as the season moves forward....and look for the Redhawks to become a dangerous team from say Week 10 and beyond this fall.
