Biggest Question facing South Elgin this fall?
Can the Storm be the state's best and most overlooked team in Chicagoland this fall? Look for South Elgin to be one of the top teams in the Upstate 8 this fall. The Storm and head coach Dragan Teonic has some key returning starters, a deep starting lineup with experience on both sides of the football and a team and program that has developed into a consistent winner. Ok so what's the rankings hangup? The Storm plays in Class 8A in what has become an overloaded class filled with Class 8A sized power programs, and getting a real handle on the Storm is difficult especially in determining how well they would square off against like sized programs.
Impact Player for South Elgin:
Senior QB Ben Karpowicz. Karpowicz has been a huge key and impact player for the Storm over the past three seasons and looks primed for a big senior season. Karpowicz, who is the son of former Glenbard West head coach John Karpowicz will continue to draw recruiting looks and attention this summer and fall.
Game to Watch this Fall? Week 3 vs Glenbard South
The Storm basically rolled to a 6-0 record this past spring, yet Glenbard South gave South Elgin a game and should again this fall. The Raiders also bring back a strong core of returning starters and this Week 3 game will be a nice early indicator on both teams for the remainder of the regular season.
