Biggest Question facing Payton Prep this fall?
How far behind are the Grizzlies and the rest of the CPL after the spring COVID shortened season? Payton Prep has made terrific progress over the last handful of seasons and sure seemed to be on the right track to becoming a CPL power....but then once COVID hit the entire CPL was basically handcuffed and had limited work at best. Payton Prep also was able to get in just 2 games in the spring shortened season and went 1-1. Payton Prep has the makings of having a strong showing this fall, but can Payton Prep make the IHSA playoffs and stay with and beat the suburban schools? The answer is time will tell us more this fall.
Impact Player for Payton Prep:
Junior WR/DB Charlie Newton is a talented athlete who has continued to improve as a player over the past few years. Newton has impressive speed and hands along with being a disciplined route runner and will be asked to again be an impact player on both sides of the football this fall.
Game to Watch this Fall? Week 1 vs DePaul Prep
The Grizzlies schedule has yet to be finalized but Week 1 against up and coming DePaul Prep has the makings of being a pretty strong Week 1 game. DePaul Prep has made some substantial school additions and upgrades and is also focused on greatly improving the sports programs including football. Payton Prep will be a Week 1 game that should tell us a lot more about both schools early this coming season.
