Biggest Question facing Geneseo this fall?
Can the Leafs get back to it's winning ways and make a run at the Western Big 6 conference title? Geneseo is simply one of the state's top traditional football programs over the years and football on a Friday night (or a playoff Saturday) in Geneseo is as special as anywhere in the State of Illinois each fall. The Geneseo program has been in various conferences over the years and is now settled into the Western Big 6. Geneseo loves it's tradition and power run game, and is still trying to make it work in a WB6 that features some very athletic teams with bigger enrollments. Loom for the Leafs to again run the football this fall and to be in the hunt for a state playoff spot.
Impact Player for Geneseo
Senior OL Nathan VandeWoestyne (6-foot-4, 250 pounds) is a good sized linemen who has the overall frame and length to keep adding more good weight and muscle in college. VandeWoestyne is drawing various FCS/D2 recruiting interest this sumemr and I expect him top keep drawing more college looks this summer and fall.
Game to Watch this Fall? Week 5 vs Sterling
Regardless of the records, the conference or anything else.....this game always matters and is one of the top rivalry games in the western part of the state. This series has been on and off again for decades but this is always a very physical and hard hitting football.
