Biggest Question facing Deerfield this fall?
Can Deerfield take the next step and make a deep run in the IHSA state playoffs? The Warriors and veteran head coach Steve Winiecki posted a 5-1 record this past spring season, and many key players from that spring team will return this fall. Deerfield posted a 10-3 record in 2019 and it sure seemed like the Warriors are headed in the right direction but then the COVID pandemic struck and slowed down that momentum.
Impact Player for Deerfield
Both senior WR Luke Jones along with senior WR/LB Luke Woodson are multi-year starters and impact players and leaders for the Warriors this summer. Look for both Jones and Woodson to play huge roles once again this season for the Warriors and both players will continue to draw college looks and attention from several college levels this summer and fall.
Game to Watch this Fall? Week 5 vs Vernon Hills
The Warriors posted 5-1 record in the spring, but the only loss game in Week 3 to Vernon Hills 19-6. Look for Deerfield to get a bit of payback, while this Week 5 game will also be a big showdown between two of the top teams in the CSL North this fall. This Week 5 game could also have conference title implications.
