The New CS8.... 2024 Schedule

All.... After one season HC Michael Kinade from Southeast has resigned. Spartans will need to scramble quickly and get that position filled.

Reports in the paper I recall last season mentioned low numbers of players were available throughout the year. If that trend continues in 2024 not a good sign. They should be the favorite though week one when they travel to East Peoria and take on the Raiders. Ratsy
Any news on the SE HC hiring front? School year is nearly over...

Biggest Question for your fav conference in 2024?

Hersey schedule upgrade
Don't know much about the Mid-Suburban League, but after running the regular-season table two years in a row and playing a marshmallowy non-conference schedule in 2023, Hersey is opening its 2024 season with games vs. traditional 8A powers Warren and Barrington.
Wonder if the last two seasons' success was with a junior-senior group now in college, or if it is still a program on the upswing.
Hersey's QB just got an offer from UCLA

Palatine Pirates 2024 State Champs

This was the headline to a thread in the fall of 2021.
We are now approaching the 2024 season.
I believe the author of that post wrote about a freshman game in which Palatine beat Loyola by a point. Not. positive but I think that the freshman matchup was in some minds a "2024 state final preview" and was what pushed at least one Pirate backer out of the "we're going to be good in three years" category and into being able to mention Lincoln-Way East, Loyola Academy and Palatine in the same sentence.
Looking forward to see if that poster was correct. If so, gotta wonder how he is at. picking lottery numbers three years in advance!
If only freshman football meant that much… 2015 Loyola team was 2-7 as freshman became arguably loyola’s greatest team ever.

MC @ Br. Rice again

Thanks for update - yeah I would seriously throw long at least 8 times a game - if they give too much cushion then quick hitches. But if he's a legit 6'3 and has a 48 inch standing high jump (per his measurables) then I'd be tossing up flies long for him to outrun defender or do jump balls on. If they double him, then you can run your TE up the gut past the LB or a slot WR on drags over middle . Should be interesting to see if they have QB who can just wing it out there.
He has grown to a legit 6'4 now... I would target him at least 10 times a game at a min... Should've been done when he was at Rita. He's a TD waiting to happen on 50% or more his catches.

MC @ Br. Rice again

MC has a lot of talent still, led by Elliott, but they have a lot of holes to replace on offense, especially having to replace Dupree/Manning, 3 linemen and all WR's. Defense will be solid with Mucha and Pustateri back at LB, Havy Payne who was 1st Team All Conference and Zander Gorman back in the secondary, but they have 2 juniors to be at DE that are making themselves known on the recruiting trail. Breadon Jones has a new Power 5 offer every day, most recently USC as of yesterday, but has numerous others in the SEC and NC offered as well. He's 6'5 250 and can move. Got generous snaps on varsity as a Soph, he's might be the most heavily recruited MC player ever before he leaves, his potential is through the roof. The other one is Joey Quinn who is 6'6 240 and growing he turned some heads at recent camps and got a few MAC offers as a result. Do I feel as confident as I have about this teams chances as I have the past two seasons? No. Too many question marks on Offense. Did they think they have enough talent to reload though and am I confident in Jordan Lynchs offensive scheme? Absolutely. I will give LA the early nod for Conference favorite followed by MC, BR and Iggy (never thought they would rise to the blue but here they are!). I would put BR at 7-2/6-3 depending on how they do against Marist and SR which i would put them as early favorites in both.
Those DEs will be beasts - assuming Mucha will be the MLB? Defense in the end wins games so MC has a solid one at that. I like some of the underclassmen (To Be Juniors and Sophs) so would assume you'll be young. Elliott is the best QB in Blue and IMO maybe best in State (the kid at LWE is pretty special too). MC will go as far as Elliott goes (remember when Lausch got hurt it killed Rice vs Wheaton North so think the same will apply with MC - he stays healthy and its another 7A championship - hopefully playing Rice on the other side of bracket)

MC @ Br. Rice again

MC saw him twice last year. He's legit. First game he had a long TD on their first series, MC adjusted though and shut him down the remainder. Second time they played was the first round of the playoffs right after MC lost to LA in a heartbreaker and they came out firing, and SR was banged up and using a Soph QB, so I don't even know if he had a catch, it was over pretty quickly.

Biggest Question for your fav conference in 2024?

PowerI66 - surprised you haven't weighed in on Fremd's expected resurgence this fall. I think they're a 6-3 kinda team and make the playoffs for the first time in years.

Otherwise-

Barrington will live and die by big plays like they often do. I don't think Piepert has the crew around him he had last year so we'll see. Could be 12-1 again, or could be 6-4.

Palatine ought to be one of the best teams around, but after last season they'll need to prove it. By my count they have 7 guys with D1 offers, and younger guys like upcoming juniors Kole Fager, Will Santiago, and Jordan Bostick will all be stars. Like Barrington, ought to be 12-1, but could be 6-4 again.

Hoffman Estates lost some good guys but usually seem to reload well. See them around 6-3 or 5-4 and in the playoffs.

Conant and Schaumburg bringing up the rear.. neither just seems to get the athletes they once did
Fremd will have a new OC. That may complicate things

Speed Kills - IHSA Track

Look at these national times ... a sub 10 100M??? A Texas sweep of the 400x1 with Atacosita taking the crown with sub 39!!!! Jelani Watkins - LSU bound - 10.19 and 20.56, 100/200 respectively. One IL thinclad ... in the 800 M. Most shocking is the sophomore who is just inches under 75 feet in the shotput!!!!

IN IL, the 4*100 is dominated by the metro-east - the 4*200 is spread around the state. We have a discuss tosser over 200, which is damned good. We MAY see 7-feet in the HIGH jump ... maybe we will break 50 in the triple jump and almost certainly 25 in the long jump.

We do not have any real elite track talent this year.
Blame the IL football coaches ( HS and 7on7), robbing kids of competing in a sport such as track w/ Spring lifting often times in addition to track and during the crack of dawn. 7on7 tournamentd dang near every weekend. Somehow the MetroEast gets it right (a chicagoland issue) and the southern states where football and track reign supreme. That Atascocita team that beat Eastside this season set a national record in the 4x100m, insane!
