Why isn't ESL IN 8A?

If this is a genuine question, their conference will not allow them to petition up more than one class. Their enrollment puts them in 5A, so they can’t go above 6A.
With all the proposals the IHSA goes through every season, I wonder if a Northern 6A rep will make a proposal saying something to the effect of "no conference can limit the classes a conference team can option up to." Because A) it's not that far-fetched of a proposal and B) it's not really ESL keeping O'Fallon and Edwardsville from winning a title in 7A and/or 8A.

I for one, disagree with the decision that the SW Conference made and think that the proposal that you're suggesting here is a good idea. ESL should be allowed to play up. As for what's been going on in the conference, here's a little more context. The official reasoning behind the decision was, as mentioned above, to try and limit conference members from playing and eliminating each other from the playoffs. Then there's what people see as the unofficial reasons. On one hand, there are those who believe that the decision was made out of jealousy of ESL's success. There are also some who believe that it may be a race related issue. On the other side, there are some that believe that the decision was a slight against ESL because of the allegations of ESL recruiting kids from both in and out of the conference and cultivating a transfer culture to benefit the program. I think that sometimes we can find ourselves dealing in absolutes a bit too much and so hopefully some of this explanation can provide a little nuance.

Now now … let us not air laundry.

To be honest I don’t think they make it out of the quarters in 8a. Do they beat GW, LWE, Loyola, or York? I don’t think so. They are better off just beating up on 6a and pounding their chest.
Oh and there is 0 chance they beat Mt. Carmel in 7a

This is who EastSise lost to this year.

Creeekside. GA just bowed our of the Big Boy class down south. Lost to them by one. The other loss was to the second-ranked team in the nation according to Rivals.

Any of the schools noted above in that class?

So if we are going by rivals they beat lemont by 3. They were 30th in the state…. So again not buying it. I understand you are going to go with the bad game or bus ride B.S.. They won 6a and good for them. But they wouldn’t win 7 or 8 IMO.

I disagree. Mt. Carmel is dominating Batavia, but Batavia is no ESL. MC does not appear to have as much Speed as ESL and they are much smaller on the line.

So far in seven games I've seen nothing that could have stopped them.

You are right that’s just your opinion. We will never know so Stop with the nonsense

I think ESL wins 7A but not 8A.

For as much as we’re talking about how ESL is unbeatable, are we forgetting that they lost in the 6A title game just last year? I’m not sure if anyone in 7A or 8A could have beaten them this year, but I would much rather have seen ESL play Loyola, Mt. Carmel or LWE than an overmatched Prairie Ridge.
Before the game it’s was all about can ESL stop the option and PR. Even when they beat PR in ‘19, it was still said that the option gave ESL fits and could be a problem this year. NOW that the game is over, y’all are saying PR wasn’t worthy of being on the field. LOL some of y’all need to stop. PR was a good team. Today ESL was better.

ESL fans will say they are the best team this year, MC fans believe they are the best team this year, if LWE wins tonight their fans will say they’re the best team. The board will argue and people will get upset. All the while the kids on the teams will enjoy tonight, have a drink, find a girl, and probably laugh at all the arguments happening between the adults here.

If you dont think esl can compete with every one of those teams you likely know very little about hs football.

… they almost beat saint Frances … saint Frances is a top 5 team in the nation they lost because of a bad snap . So yes they would make it out of the quarters lol

So any other opinion than ESL is the best ever is nonsense… interesting.
What a ridiculous comment. You came on here talking about how esl couldnt even compete in 7a or 8a. Not once did anyone say esl is the best ever. Its an pinion that id guess most ppl dont agree with. And most importantly cant be proven. So yes, its a silly argument to try and make
