As the playoffs are upon us, I am surveying all the places I've seen a game and my takeaways from each. Would be curious to hear what others have experienced in their travels.

Aurora Christian (home)
Plano (corn)
Marmion Academy
St. Francis (fantastic new venue)
Montini (closest view, visitors stands next to football field, inside the track)
St. Edward (most uneven playing surface - best concession food)
Wheaton Academy (they play at West Chicago)
Sterling-Newman (they share Sterling HS field - feels like a small college)
Stillman Valley (very long grass)
St. Ignatius (Chicago skyline and picturesque campus)
Immaculate Conception (freight trains rumbling by on RR tracks)
Seneca (massive visitor section must have once been the home bleachers)
Lake Forest Academy (average grass field on an amazing college prep campus)

Geneseo (historic football powerhouse, used to shoot off a cannon after each TD. I think another IL team now does it)
Sycamore (very beautiful in the fall during playoff season)
Kaneland (corn)
Naz (fantastic views every side of the field)
Glenbard West (football near the lake)

Wilmington (best atmosphere)
Morris (close second)
Coal City (subdivision/corn)
Reed-Custer (avg)
Plano (corn)
Sandwich (terrible visitor bleachers)
Seneca (neat river town)
Lisle (old field, neighborhood)
Dwight (old)
Peotone (small visitors seating)
Spring Valley Hall (was great atmosphere, program is down currently)
Carthage Illini West (fast track)
Marengo
Hampshire
Clifton Central (corn)
Bishop Mac
Providence
Joliet Memorial Stadium
Joliet West
Bradley-Bourbonnais
Lemont (the hill)
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few

Notre Dame
Hanson Stadium
DeLaSalle
St Rita (old campus)
New Trier
Glenbrook South
Evanston
Glenbrook North

The Pit at Elder HS in Cincy. The Alumni purchased houses next to stadium erected steel bleachers and watch the games.
My nephew played at Cincy Moeller and I saw him play at the Pit. Nothing like it. The coolest HS environment in the country, bar none.

The best atmosphere/stadium of all of these was La Salle-Peru for a playoff game.

Just reviewed LA's playoff opponents over the years and realized I forgot to mention Stevenson and Glenbard North. Thought I would also add a word or two of commentary regarding the experience at each.

Notre Dame -- Wooden visitor stands prior to renovation looked like they could collapse at any minute. Whole place looking great now.
Hanson Stadium -- Astro turf was pretty threadbare.
DeLaSalle -- Kinda cramped.
St Rita (old campus) -- Dust bowl.
New Trier -- Ozzy Osborne Crazy Train maniacal laughter over the PA system after every NT first down. Drove me nuts.
Glenbrook South -- Great marching band.
Evanston -- Inconvenient parking. Very tall home stands would never fly at Crystal Lake South.
Glenbrook North -- Don't remember much, but I was there. Too much pregaming at The Brothers Tavern?
Marist -- Like their PA guy. PATs and FGs into the cemetery. Don't run too fast on the SW corner route.
LFA -- Beautiful views of trees/woods and a gorgeous campus juxtaposed against the drum beaten snap counts reverberating from the sideline of their opponent...the Wisconsin School for the Deaf.
Ethan Allen Reform School (WI) -- Those kids kept score a different way.
Carthage (Illini West) -- Game last year vs. QND. Great parking. Shortest HS game I have witnessed in a long time.
Stevenson -- Miserable weather and I was not dressed warmly enough. Smallish stadium given their enrollment and size of the campus.
Glenbard North -- What is it about schools with the acronym GBN that cause me to not remember much of the game?

Didn't some one suggest a few weeks ago that seeing this many Highschool football stadiums was impossible.

As Edgy said I have way to many to list but am guessing I could keep it under 70 for the number of stadiums and coincidental times I've been there at the same time as Edgy.

Your good. Very good in fact.

I sit with Dr. Gerardo Grieco at St. Rita football games. This last Friday was his 567th straight game. Not a bad record. I've made maybe 300 games over that time frame. Makes me a rookie compared to the Doc. And he drives in every Friday from Bloomington Il.

Too many to list, but my favorites are in no particular order (except #1 of course):

SR (old and new) old with the walls and 9 yard South Endzone. New is an excellent stadium and no place I'd rather be on a Friday night.

BR I like it. Feeto gives it a hard time in good fun. But the Father's club reps well and I end up talking to them for a bit.

Gately getting better each year. So good and clean and well lit now that I almost miss the mile high crown and the rougher old days

ESL (old and new) old not so nice but the worst part was the buckets of rain and the standing water mud bowl (1983 6A semi final loss, 8-0) New is an awesome place to watch a game. BBQ and DJ turn it into an event. I like the East side people that work or sit on the visitor stands. Know their football and could talk for hours about it.

Soule Bowl (East Moline/United Township) great old venue that is well kept

PC makeover turned it into one of the best stadiums. Ample visitor seating since it used to be the home side.

LA well it used to be fun to go on the occasional Saturday trip up north to see how the other half lives. Not so fun lately but the facility and people are still great

Morris for a city kid at heart, it was nice that SR had a home and home with them. Great Friday night lights atmosphere

Montini is great, hate saying that. :)
WWS is always a good time.
St. Ed's is pretty good food, as been said.
Wilmington in the playoffs, great atmosphere.
Lockport is a nice place to watch a game and with the renewed support of the community it's pretty cool these days. SIDE NOTE they will be good for a while, good things happening. And they should be good, great youth program, great community support, large enrollment, talent in the hall ect ect ect. (I might live there now so maybe a little bias).
Marmion is a nice place to see a game, good food, dumb cannon.
Provi has a great atmosphere.
St. Francis has a great new complex and I am biased but it is great.
Newt hates all private school venues, but that has already been established.
