How exciting is this? Some incredible games on the slate this weekend!

We have a guaranteed 2 games next week with the Friar/Viking winner and the Caravan/Mustang winner moving on.

How bout we get a representative in each Class, 4A to 8A. That would make for an epic Thanksgiving weekend and an epic week on the board.

Good Luck young men!

It’s really hard to beat a team twice…twice. Big games back to back for the Caravan. This one should be a lot closer than the last. Excited for some high quality, hard nosed football Saturday!

Rough week last week.

week13 notes:

As mentioned last week. full season table order is presented by total wins and the playoff table is done by the weekly winner(s)

And how about that, it took us 13 weeks and some close calls but we finally have the perfect week pulled off. Congratulations to ref and mccar for picking 6 of 6. Sorry I don't do parlays or pick 6s

Par was a healthy 4.06 so the north Larkin Ave. Boys usd and pjjp gained on the field with ref and mccar

As far as whats up for grabs this week, sure some of our boys will be playing for a little trophy and life long memories but the real action is the playoff win total and playoff percentage titles are up for grabs for us that go to the St. Kenny Rogers of the Couch school. Barring a '69 cub collapse, mccar should be able to seal his amazing comeback for the season crown.

But this is a funny week, holiday week, running around, forget what day it is, some preparing for the trip down 57, some may be late getting picks in or forget altogether. 5 points are up for grabs, see you late tomorrow night

The grid confuses me but any time you can go 6-0 it's a good thing. If MC is really a 22 point favorite everything that I think I know is wrong.

What is the grand prize? Can we get this autographed and framed?

Great comment because if you are confused, there are probably others that have been or still are and I never explained it well.

There is a full season grid and a playoff grid. I'll focus on the playoff grid since you have opportunities there to win the autographed picture.

column 1 (round3 rank) shows you where you were ranked last week in total wins. In your case 6th.
column 2 (round4) shows the points you won this week. In your case, 6 for 6 earned you 6 points.
column 3 (round 4 rank) shows your new playoffs' total win rank, in your case, your great week jumped you from 6th to a tie for first with pjjp and ignazio at 24 with mccar. boundary corner and stl705 lurking with 23 points
column 4 (playoffs percent rank) shows you your win percentage rank. You are 3rd behind 80s Rambler and bornNrazed,
column 5 and 6 shows you your win loss record for all the playoff games
column 7 (total games played) this shows you all the games you picked. Not everyone has the same amount because I did not penalize the other participant's win percentage (wins/tgp) if I could not count their late pick on the Thursday games we've had, they were also not penalized on winning percentage if they missed a game in their entry, and finally not everyone played all the weeks.
column 8 (winning percentage) wins divided by total games played

The full season (fs) table is basically the same, I just present it or sort it by total wins

Ahhh now it all makes sense. I was guilty of just looking to see where my name was on a list, but this is wayyyyy better.

If its any consolation, refref and STL are in the same boat. My plan for increased drama all the way to the last week has worked out beautifully.:)

Alright men of the CCL, I need your help. I really enjoy reading your posts each week, you guys are the best. I am a 26 year coach from the suburbs whose son finished last spring at Naz and now is playing football at Navy. I now work for National Preps (took over for Clint Cosgrove) and cover Chicago for all the colleges that use our service. It has been a ball getting out and about all over the city/state this past year. But...Here is what I need from you guys...

My FAVORITE THREAD, hands down, of the year was the St Rita vs. Prospect one (a game I attended also.) I teach social studies and next semester will be teaching History of Chicago for the first time. We do a unit on Chicago music. I am a music fanatic and cannot wait. The current teacher is young and covers all the hip hop stuff in our city along with the grunge movement from the 90s(which I loved in college.) You guys blew my mind with all the members of the 70s rock bands that attended the CCL. I knew many of those bands came out of Chicago but I was dying when you guys kept dropping the names and schools. So I want to give the CCL it's rightful place in my history class. Can you guys message me back the names of the artists/bands and what schools everyone went to? I am literally going to use it in class. You can either do it right here or DM me on twitter @CoachChris_Roll or email me at school croll@lphs.org. Thanks you guys. Good luck to Loyola, MC, Naz, & Providence. I saw all of them this year in practice/games and have crazy respect for all the coaches and teams.

Off the top of my head:
St. Rita Ray Manzarek the Doors. I know as Ray got older he began to appreciate St. Rita reaching out to him. I know sometime in the 2000’s he met with the concert band. John Donovan is the lead musical director at the school but was not there when Ray was alive. But he might know more or point you in the right direction.

Mendel Peter Cetera Chicago: You could probably call St. Rita again and see who is most involved in coordinating Mendel alumni questions. I think they (Men of Mendel) have recently met at St. Rita so I think any questions you have could get you to a correct person to answer them.

ND guys can help with their Chicago band member(s) But even with saying that, Chicago was formed a lot at DePaul University and Manzarek was even at DePaul before heading to LA so DePaul University music program will be a great resource for you

Dennis DeYoung Styx: someone mentioned him as a Mendel grad in the Prospect thread but he may have started at Mendel being a Roseland kid but I think he ended up at Harlan High School

Marist: Dan Donegan: Disturbed
He has met and invited Marist students to his shows. I’m sure Marist can help you with any info you are looking for

In all, sounds like a cool endeavor. Good luck on your and your students’ musical journey. Don’t feel weird dropping a link if Edgy’s ok with it when you gather some material

Great Start out of the gate here. Really appreciate it. Edgy & I go back a long time also so I am sure he will be ok if I give a Rock N Roll update. :)

Let me add to your musical resource, I almost forgot, Fr. Tom McCarthy is back at or with the school, St. Rita. And he is a former Marching Mustang and may have helped the Manzarek trip. He is a busy man so I don’t want to add to his responsibilities but he has an incredible heart and wealth of knowledge, so I would request an audience with him through the St. Rita receptionist. Knowing him as I think I do, if he has the time, he’ll have a great conversation with you.

James Pankow of Chicago was NDCP ‘65. Marty Lennartz morning host of WXRT was class of ‘71 and although not a musician certainly an expert in the field and genre you’ve mentioned.

I thought there was another guy from Rice who was in a 90s/00s rock band. I thought it was Disturbed but I can't find anything on that.
