I hear rumblings. Anyone else?

Possible landing spot for RB and an additional 1 or 3 teams to make two divisions.

YES PLEASE!! Get it done U8! With expansion the top U8 teams can finally schedule some non conf games. I think it would be a big boost to the conference.

Who? If it's just RB plus Elmwood Pk and Ridgewood coming to their senses, that would work (enrollment based, suburban prairie reunion division, U46 plus 2 the other). Finfding #14 is the challenge

Well Elmwood and Ridgewood are supposed to go to that new Prarie league that was just formed.

So it points to some other conference maybe having a deflection. No idea who. RB obviously makes sense, but not alone...

Are the rumblings coming from RB?
I heard it from an RB person. Not a particularly "well connected" person, but through the grapevine. His source/rumor orginiated from a HS coach in another program.

Thought this might be the first place to see rumors, but hadnt seen anything about it since the new Prairie League got announced. RB seemingly in a tough spot, but Upstate 8 seems like it would be the best fit they've had in a while. Key would be balancing the league though...

SE Storm and myself along with a few others have been discussing in Batavia - Hersey thread on here. Agree U8 is as good a fit as I think RB would find so not surprising.

I believe West Aurora was mentioned as a possible 2nd team, but not sure what their current situation is.

One of the reasons West Auroa left was most schools didnt feel Jv and lower teams and that hasn't changed since they left.

Are they independent currently? If so, seems like U8 would make sense with East Aurora already in conf. Unless im misreading and they were actually in U8 before?

I dont see how Riverside-Brookfield is desirable for the Upstate Eight. In current traffic at 1:00 on Wednesday it is a 55 minute commute to South Elgin.

If Upstate 8 wants to expand I would look to Huntley, Jacobs and Dundee Crown.

RB could slide into a small division with GS, GE, Fenton maybe Streamwood if the U46 didn't mind a splitting. What about the teams from the non Cook Co part of the WSG such as Willowbrook, HS, AT?

Jacobs is an hour travel from GBS and GBE so not sure there is a “perfect” fit geography wise.

Interesting but is U8 really more attractive than the WSS for the Gold members? I don’t know if it is.

I still think RB is picture perfect for either WSG or U8. WSG doesn’t have incentive to expand unless its a picture perfect fit so I think RB is much more attractive to U8 than WSG. RB just needs a partner to the dance. I can’t see Dundee-Crown and those NW burb schools would be more attracted to the U8 than current conf either. Not a lot of options but having 1 school ready to jump is a lot easier than having 2.

Riverside Brookfield was part of the WSG IN THE MID 80’s I believe when Otto Zemen was the head coach.

Couple more thoughts to pair with Riverside:

Wheaton Academy - much smaller school, but may be interesting competition wise especially if they keep building.

Lisle - see above smaller school but probably not as competitive as Wheaton Academy could be.

Agreed, but I think Kaneland is probably at the top of their want list.
