BLUE and PURPLE:

Brother Rice @ Carmel: Long trip for the Crusaders, but they won't struggle. BR 38 CoM 13

Marist @ Saint Patrick:
Marist wipes the field with the depleted Shamrocks. Marist 35 SP 13

Mount Carmel @ Saint Viator: When was the last time these 2 teams played? MC makes quick work of the Lions who should be more worried about next week anyways. MC 42 StV 14

Loyola Academy @ Marian Central Catholic: BAD match up for both schools. Loyola 56 Marian of the Sticks 0

GREEN and ORANGE:

Benet Academy @ Saint Rita:
IMO this is the game of the week because it means a whole lot for both schools playoff plans. I'm going with the Ponies in a very hard fought victory. SR 24 Benet 21

De La Salle @ Montini Catholic: Great effort out of the Meteors last week, but Montini got a very well timed "bye week" and they will make relatively easy work of DLS. MCHS 41 DLS 20

Saint Laurence @ Providence Catholic: The Vikings got a statement win last week and really could make their playoff seeding much better by winning out and that's why I'm taking the Boys of Burbank in a close game. StL 31 Provi 27

Nazareth Academy @ Notre Dame: High school Game Day will be in Niles for this awesome match up. In a weird way, I don't think I can take positives or negatives (unless there's a blowout) from this game as both teams have proven to be strong. I will take the Dons in a coin flip. ND 23 Naz 21

WHITE and RED:

Joliet Catholic @ DePaul:
JCA running clock. JC 49 Gordon Tech 0

Fenwick @ Leo:
Fenwick gets playoff eligible with an easy victory. Fenwick 42 Leo 0

Saint Ignatius @ Marian Catholic: This actually has the potential to be a very good game. I am taking the Wolfpack as they keep their playoff dreams alive. Marian's march towards 5 waits another week. Iggy's 33 Marian of the Heights 27

Marmion Academy @ Saint Joe's: Marmion running clock.MA 48 Joe's 0

The spreads are getting tougher to pick, IMO.

CoM +30
Pat's +25
Viator +29
MCC +42

Rita -7
Montini -20
St. Laurence +11....upset alert here. Agree with Digital Cy above.
ND +5....really like the Dons getting 5 at home. Naz coming off a big win. Possible let down.

DePaul Prep +52
Fenwick -33
Ignatius +3
Joe's +44

Any word on the Providence QB? I heard he was knocked out of the Rita game.

If Provi QB is out Laurence has a pretty good shot.

Benet and Rita will be interesting with no Wilson Rita offense could struggle.

ND v Naz is game of week that should be a great one.

Well, here goes nothing...

CoM +30 Crusaders win easily but might take advantage of some healing time before MC next week

StV +29 see above

StP +25 see above

Mar North +42 see above

SR -7 The Mustangs will have to play this one for their injured leader Henry Wilson if they want to see the playoffs this year.

ND +5 Nothing much to say on this one. A great game between two great teams.

Montini -20 Meteors keep it close for awhile but the Broncs pull away

StL +11 I’d take PC on the ML since a lot of people think the Vikings will win. I think PC wins but not by 11

Dep +52 Catholic handles business on the road

Leo +33 Lions cover the number vs the Friar

SICP +3 in a coin flip game, I’ll take the points

StJ @ MA OFF

BR -30 (CoM needs a reboot)
Skins -25 (Keep hope alive)
SV +29 (First-ever meeting?)
M,Sticks +42 (LA has historically done poorly in McHenry)
BA +7 (Wings will be tested)
DLS +20 (Some mediocre CPS team will be taking the Meteor's place)
SL +11 (Vikes may be under-rated)
ND +5 (Dons better balanced)
JC -52 (Gambletron maxes out at 62)
F -33 (Back to the dance for the Friars)
SI +3 (Wolves backed into the corner)
MA-SJ ... OFF

MC will definitely rest some starters like they did against De La Salle or use them sparingly and rest up for BR.and more importantly the playoffs. Viator isn't healthy either.

*Question*

Are any of these CCL / ESCC teams senior dominate?

MC, Rice, Rita, Loyola, Marist have an abnormal amount of JRs and Sophs playing large roles.

Is ND senior dominated?

Naz? (I know stud QB is a JR.)

COM 30
Marist -25
MC -29
Marian 42
Rita -7
Montini -20
STL 11 feeto special
ND 5 (straight up winner so another feeto)
JCA -52 ugly
Leo 38
MC -3

Nazareth’s offense more Junior heavy while defense more Senior heavy.

Offensive Junior Starters:

1 QB
3 WR’s
1 TE/Wing
3 Offensive linemen

1 Sophomore WR also

2 senior linemen, 2 guys who rotate at RB seniors, a fifth WR senior (it’s a 5 WR rotation and 4 will be back with the one graduate)
———
Defense has ton of rotation and moving parts so hard to pin down “starters” but will lose about 10-13 contributors from D line, LB corps, and DB’s and return about 7 +/- underclass contributors. But needless to say next year the preseason talk will be more about what they will or won’t have on defense for 2020 not offense.

Big games this week coming up in the CCL/ESCC:

BR 5-3 @ MC 8-0
PC 6-2 @ Montini 6-2
NDN 7-1 @ SR 5-3

As we enter the last week of competition, 7 participants, mathematically, have a chance. I'll let everyone else figure out their strategy to bring home the major award but I have to wait until "ESCC fan" submits (please don't wait until FRI 6:59p) and then submit the exact opposite 12 picks and hope they all hit. And of course hope all the other posters fail, miserably. And also hope St. Joseph doesn't forfeit. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Good luck to all except the 6 above me. I suppose, in the spirit of fair competition, we should all submit at the same time but F that noise.

Marist (31) vs. St Patrick (6) pushed (25)

Marmion vs. St Joe off the board

IHSA Playoffs

1) ESCC fan - 53
2) pjjp - 51
3) ESCC Alum - 48
3) RockSoup - 48
5) caravan8 - 47
6) Ignzaio - 44
7) 3OrangeWhips - 42

Prep Bowl Playoffs
8) IgorStL - 39
8) DigitalCy - 34
10) BornNRazed - 31
