According to the website,

All Friday night games are slated for a 7:30 p.m. start, except Week 1 against Sandburg--7:00 p.m.

@ Sandburg
vs. Kenwood
@ JCA
@ MC
vs. Marmion
vs. LA
@ St. Francis
vs. Larry
@ BR

Tough schedule, IMO.

Way too early and ignorant analysis: SR favored in 5 games, even in 2 games, high single digit 'dog in 1 game and double-digit 'dog in another.

Can anyone guess?

Favored over Sandburg, Kenwood, Marmion, St. Laurence and St. Francis.

Even against Joliet Catholic and Brother Rice.

High single-digit dog against Loyola.

Double-digit dog against Mt. Carmel

Switch MC and LA, and that's what I had. LA is LA and always pound Rita.

MC has talent, but lose a lot from this year. Rita loses a lot, too but It's a rival game and if SR's O-line can be effective, the game will be decided by a TD or less.

Although some key players on the defense will have graduated, I know there's enough talent in that building to continue the solid defensive play. O-line along with the play of the QB will be key.

I am not in the 'know' but I believe SR will be favored over JCA. I see a bit of a rebuilding year for JCA. JCA 7 point dogs. JCA has a lot of potential and young players, I see them being a tough playoff draw come the playoffs in 5A or 6A.

Appreciate the info. I really have no clue what JCA has coming back. I just assumed a pick 'em game with these two great programs.

Rita's kind of rebuilding with the O-line and defense but having two stud RBs coming back can't hurt.

Circa has SR regular season Over/ Under Win total at 6.

I double checked the Rita website, and it has it as a road game for Rita. Maybe it's a mistake?

You heard different?
At the luncheon Wednesday that's what Todd had.

A new head coach at SR so there will be some unpredictability for a couple of games. That might be a good thing but everyone expects a heavy dose of Stewart and Middleton. The first two games are two year contracts. The Sandburg coach is the guy from Phillips? And Kenwood did upset SR once before? I'm sure the team will be reminded of that a lot. We should know a lot before we see the regular season CCL/ESCC games.

All in all, I'd rather play LA than SR (especially there). Too many years, odd things happened that resulted in 7 points ... bad juju.

Our record against LA over the past decade isn't all that hot, either, but it doesn't seem like some invisible hand is whacking a pass out of bounds.

I know, I know.

I wasn't sure which way to go with Mt. Carmel and Loyola. But, with Loyola having a new head coach and needing to play the game at St. Rita, I thought they might be a little more vulnerable.

That's a great take, and it actually may be true. It's just no matter the situation, except Covid Spring season, LA pummels Cascia.

Maybe with the game being at MC last season it was thought the game with be @SR but seeing that it wasn’t a division game it doesn’t go towards the home/away.

The last two years were non-cons with the schools signing a two year agreement between them. This year it’s part of the league season assigned by the league office. The 2023 schedule normally would be the 1st year of a two year cycle. I was told the 2024 schedule will be fine tuned again mostly because of the expansion of the league. Best guess is the SR and MC schedules will be a close mirror of the 2023 schedule. But I was told it is not guaranteed.

Several years ago I had a lot of trouble explaining the two year cycles. Team “A” plays at home year one and on the road year two. The next cycle they played on the road and then at home. Two home games each in the four years for both schools. My buddy’s kid played on the varsity years two and three of that four year period. So his son played his arch rival on the road for both his junior and senior years on the varsity. His father could not be convinced there was not a conspiracy to help Team “B”.

I find the SF game interesting, I don’t know what St. Rita has coming back.
You know what SF has coming back? This is my take; it doesn't mean it's totally accurate.

Offense: two talented RBs who have had a bevy of touches the last two years--they will be seniors. WR/ATHs: there are some skilled players; will have to prove it, but the potential is there. QB--he will have a lot of experience from last year facing a grueling schedule. Junior-to-be QB should challenge. O-line is the key here; two linemen who got some good experience will be coming back. The younger linemen? We'll have to wait and see, but that coaching staff will have them ready--they're in the building.

Defense: losing top LBs and some very good linemen, but I believe 4-5 underclassmen played significant minutes. Backfield was very young and improve dramatically from Week One.

Special teams should be solid.

Coaching? We'll have to wait and see, but I am sure Coach Hopkins will do a great job.

I've seen a video of Marty Hopkins addressing the team. I think he's bringing a lot of his Iowa coaching experience to SR. If you have watched SR warm up before game time, once the OL and the rest of the team comes out of the locker room there is not a wasted second out there on the field. Sounds like time management is going to continue in all aspects of the team. The team was told football games are won in the offseason.

7-2
Lose in the 3rd round of the playoffs.

Take it for what it's worth ........ I did come in 93rd place in the playoff predictions this year.
I will take the 7 - 2 record, but the Quarterfinal exit is unacceptable! I actually think it's a fair and realistic projection--good job, feeto. I guessing you have SR beating BR; you have any info on BR?

I know JCA may be a little down, and I don't know much about SF--does anyone have an early report? I could see Rita winning 5-7 games with that schedule. Beating rival MC would obviously be a plus, but it will be difficult.

SF has the following coming back that I’m aware of: QB(will be 3 year starter), a few WRs, 3 OL, at least one DL, A few in secondary and a very good MLB. They have some good talent coming up but we will see how it translates in CCL.

I think 7-2 is right for SR. I won’t predict any playoff runs until I see the field but based on the 2 games I saw them play in and from I know they have coming back I see them being the very early favorite except against MC and LA (again it’s December).

Running backs are excellent. I don’t think it will be a two headed monster, Stewart definitely took the wheel as the force to be reckoned with. I see Middleton used situationally. Offensive line lost a lot but it’s been next man up for that position for Rita for years. They seem to clone 300 pound linemen there. Defense lost some power on the front 7 with 2 Kingsburys moving on and Farrell and Carmody, but tough kids have never been at a shortage either. Secondary loses their leader in Schmidt but returns good corners.

I don’t about the WR’s because they really didn’t factor in much and this will be SR’s biggest question.....QB. They young man who played last year struggled. 500 passing yards and double digit INTs in 13 games isn’t going to to it. But let’s give them the off season. Obviously he started for a reason, I guess he had a good grasp of the playbook. But large improvements need to be made and I’m guessing he will get the first look but be on a short leash

BR will have a lot back on offense, but none being real headliners, just some solid players. They used 2 QBs last year, sometime both in the same game. You can’t do that, you have to pick a leader and stick with him unless a permanent change was made. 1 threw better, 1 ran better. They both have a lot of work to put in this off season. Defense lost Trey Pierce, Henry Ivers and Jack Morrison, but return the the younger Pierce who is getting National attention. Again, way to early, it’s only December prediction is 5-4, 6-3, depending on their non conference schedule which I assume will include Marist.

Very good breakdown. This will be a very interesting off season with Marty Hopkins taking the reins. A product of the program I don't think he will throw the baby out with the bathwater. Rather I'm interested what he adds. I am friends with Pat Farrell's dad and it's been fun watching him grow as player. Kingsbury's were a blast to watch. But the defense was team effort all year. DJ Stewart will be a bear next year. 7-2 is a honest appraisal. When SR played most their schedule (other than #1 MC & #2 LA) I enjoyed watching the defense on the field. It was like watching the 85 Bears. A lot of pieces to replace.
