Richmond Burton at Providence next Saturday at 2pm

NO doubt they are on a GREAT current streak, but they were certainly relevant under both of those guys. The championship game in 2011 vs Rochester was a classic.
That game broke a bunch of offensive records. Rochester passed for over 500 yards, Richmond Burton ran for over 500 yards. Many of those records lasted less than 24 hours as the first game the next day was the Montini- Joliet Catholic 70-45 shootout.

I think people are drastically underrating SF
I know this sounds weird after saying what I just said about being nervous about Rochelle beating them, but I agree with you.

Many saw them play their sloppiest, worst game of the year against a very good IC team and made sweeping conclusions about them as a team. Hell I did and I was there. The reality is they are a block in the back on the 1 yard line from breaking that game open 21-6 and likely not looking back.

Marengo hung with Richmond-Burton in the first half…the game was tied 21-21. SF was up 56-0 on that same Marengo team at halftime. A lot of D1 kids on SF with a big, physical line.

Still will be an underdog against either RB/Provi, and definitely SHG if they make it that far, but SF has the highest ceiling of any one of those teams in my humble opinion, but also the lowest floor, and that’s what makes me nervous about this weekend against Rochelle.

SF going to try running the ball or are they gonna force the pass like they did in the IC game? With the weather being in the 30s, I think SF needs to run the football. I know their QB is a stud, and I know they love having the ball in his hands, but I think they need to establish the run and stick with it… something they had no intention of doing against IC. Not bashing them either, so don’t take my comments the wrong way.

You didn't pay any attention to the 4A South Bracket 2nd round games, did you? If you did, please explain your "definitely SHG" comment! GEEEESH!!

SF would be favored over Rochester. SHG clocked Rochester this year, and I’m not saying Rochester can’t beat SHG or that they won’t be in the title game, but SF would not be an underdog if they played them (CalPreps has SF as a 3 point favorite against Rochester on a neutral field).

I suppose my comment was based on my belief that SHG's play against Waterloo last Saturday may not be an anomaly, but closer to who they actually are as a team, especially against good running teams. In terms of this week's quarterfinal, anxious to see how they do defensively against another team who likes to "pound the rock" (Murphysboro). No comment on how they will do offensively. After the Waterloo game, I'm not sure they know exactly how they'll do. Has to be some lingering doubt there, but we will see.

They definitely have 2 stud backs who can get the job done on the ground, with #12 who's more of a home run hitter, and #6 who is just an absolute bruiser. And against IC their starting back #12 left the game in the 1Q and did not return.. #6 played a hell of a game filling in for him the rest of the way out.. I'm sure they will try and get both of them involved early. Those 2 compliment each other very well.

St. Francis will beat Rochelle by a ton.
St Francis won’t be Rochelle by “a ton” because Rochelle is a run heavy team and they will bleed the clock on their possessions. They WILL shorten the game. Rochelle has big size on the Offensive line, and I think they’ll keep the score close. Regardless, RB or PC will be the representative from the north. Both teams are better than WSF and Rochelle. My opinion is that when you get to this point in then playoffs, the coaching takes over. There isn’t a better coached team in 4A than RB.

Ramblin...I remember him being brought up in the past but I feel he deserves to be talked about in the same circles as many others.

Eirog...he left GBS when he retired from teaching. I believe he supervises Study Hall and coaches at RB.

ATrain: RB had some nice teams under Hoffman and Elder but nothing like this current streak.
RB would have had a couple state champs a couple times in the 80s if it wasn't for the Hartliebs and Marian Central.

Eh.. If SF jumps out to an early lead could be tough for Rochelle to dig themselves out. I guess we will see here soon that's the beautiful thing about the playoffs is that our questions/opinions will get answered when the two teams get to play one another. Just hope all teams make it through this weekend with no injury's and the kids have a good time.

Rochelle will try limit the possessions in this game. If SF does not turn the ball over on O or special teams, I think they win by 2 TDs.
