The rumor I had seen months ago was at Notre Dame but I not sure on that. Having turf now I wold think a possibility.

This is awesome. My only other wish is that this game was at Soldier Field and televised. Illinois football is more competitive than it gets credit for and should be more respected as far as I’m concerned.

Iggy is always loaded and play a ridiculous schedule. 2018 they played:

Archbishop Hoban - best team in Ohio
Cincy Elder
Mentor and the fighting Trubiski’s
Cincy St X
Cincy Moeller
Lakewood St. Ed’s x2

Same with LA. They played a killer schedule as well. Kudos for these two programs not being scared of anyone. Should be a slobber knocker.

The Loyola Academy varsity football team has a neutral non-conference game vs. St. Ignatius (Cleveland, OH) on Saturday, August 31 @ 2pm.

I would love to see a season opening annual Jesuit classic with Loyola, Cleveland Ignatius, Cincy St X, and Indy Brebeuf. Have a different school host each year and each year you face a different team.

Either that, or have the game always be at Notre Dame. The problem with ND is that then every school has to travel every year. If there were rotating hosts, then each school would travel three out of four years.

One year too late for me. My nephew just graduated from St. Ignatius. They just won their third rugby state title in four years as well, and my nephew will be playing rugby at Arizona. Great school.

How about some intel for the Ramblers?

I am hearing different about this game. Stay tuned for details... There could be a New opponent for the Ramblers, who is from illinois.

The Wildcats' schedule for this fall is star-studded with top-notch opponents, both new and old. The 2019 season will be a fun one.

For starters, the Football Cats will be opening up the season in Indiana against Loyola Academy (IL).

Saint Ignatius and Loyola Academy, a Jesuit school in Wilmette, Illinois, have agreed to play a neutral site game this season at Ames Field in Michigan City, Indiana. Ames Field is a beautiful facility that seats about 4,000. The Wildcats plan to stay near the University of Notre Dame, touring the school and hopefully having Mass on campus.

Great location for a game. Ames field is a beautiful facility. Michigan City is a good time. Nice beaches, bars and restaurants and a casino

That adds a fifth so then you would need a sixth to have three games.

The nice things about the four I mentioned is that they are all relatively close (as opposed to Gonzaga) and they are all schools within the Midwest Jesuit Province.
Fairfield Prep
Georgetown Prep
Etc.

Are Cincy Elder and Moeller Jesuit? Lakewood St. Ed’s? Mt. Carmel?

I say they go West and play Mater Dei Or East and play Saint John Bosco! Might as well play some of the top teams if your going to travel. Go big or stay home.

Nah, St. Ignatius in Cleveland and St. Xavier in Cincy are great competition from within the Jesuit family, and they are much closer than the schools you mentioned. Loyola has very little in common with Mater Dei or SJB, whereas it has much in common with other Jesuit schools.

Here is listing of the Jesuit High Schools in the US.

https://jesuitschoolsnetwork.org/member-schools/

I talked to an AD at one of the Jesuit schools after he came back from a meeting of Midwest Jesuit school ADs. He said to expect more competition between the schools especially as many have a hard time scheduling opponents in non-conference play. Loyola Academy and St. Ignatius host a Jesuit hockey tournament each January. Would not be surprised to see one soon for basketball teams soon as well. Jesuits like their kids interacting with each other at local, regional and national level. Also, the Jesuits do not like to see their high school graduates go to non-Jesuit Catholic colleges - this is part of the plan to make sure that they continue on to Jesuit colleges.

Ignatius, in 2017 & 2018, sent 35% of its graduates to Catholic colleges. Of those who went to Catholic colleges, 75% went to Jesuit colleges. In 2018 - 13 different Jesuit colleges, 2017 - 12 different Jesuit colleges. List of Jesuit colleges: http://www.ajcunet.edu/institutions

Well if they truly want to play competition then play the best. I mean why travel to another state and play a no one? Play a school worthy.

I believe Ramblin is referring to Jesuit schools only.

I think St. Ignatius of Cleveland is worthy. 10 Ohio state football championships in the last 30 years.
St Xavier High is no slouch either, having been Ohio state champs in 2005, 2007, and 2016 (a year in which they beat Cleveland St. Ignatius in the title game).
