Private Schools 5 - Public 0 (Includes Naz/Jca)

The 5-0 reference was to private schools winning the first 5 title games at ISU and public schools winning 0.
You are obviously referring to the fact that after 5?games are played that private schools will have a 5-1 record.
Two things csn be true at the same time.
I guess I was merely pointing out that since Naz JCA had not started yet, and you were correctly calling it a win for the privates, I was just saying, we should give the 1 win for the publics.

It is obvious that something needs to change - putting private schools in a seperate playoff would not be a bad idea as other states do it. Publics, especially the smaller ones cannot compete with the recruiting advantages that private have for the most part.
Thank you for acknowledging Participation Trophies are a dream you wish to come true. East St. Louis, Byron, Rochester and the like don't give a damn about whom they play in the title games. They just lineup and beat them. In fact, the only games in which we were challenged were against public teams from the North. Richmond Burton came down to the last play. We beat Morris on a last second field goal. And Geneseo should have never been close. But it was only a one score game.

The pathetic, whiney inferiority complex ridden argument of separate playoffs for public and private is steeped in the tears of a sub 70 IQ adult baby.

By the way, when I went for a hot chocolate in the middle of the game, the lady ringing me out at concessions was all over the public/private debate. And I didn’t even ask. “$5 please. This is ridiculous. Public can’t compete with privates. This is going to be another blowout.” It was 21-0 in the first quarter at the time. I had to chuckle to myself. I said yea, we shouldn’t be in 3A and kept it moving.
ESL and Rochester are just fine with playing private schools in game 1 or game 14

Idk maybe some of those public’s could get better because if and when Nazareth and some of the other privates come to 6a I think the finals will still be estl vs Cary grove most years

Watching this thread brings a laugh with every update. I'm watching my boys back home in Michigan. 11 finalists are public. 5 are private. After the first 4 games, the titles are 2-2. And the largest divisions are being dominated by the public schools in the finals thus far.

Michigan public schools football as a whole must be better than Illinois public school football. The top QB in the country is from a Michigan Public School.

If you want to see the sub-par remain sub-par, year after year, just keep the standards low and make excuses for their year in and year out shortcomings. But stop thinking separate, but equal is the solution and indicative of compassion.

Just have true 1 to 32 seeding. In 3a it should be Byron vs Montini.
I like this but my only issue is neither Montini or Byron should be 3A. I don't blame them as it's the rules in place but waivers need to be adjusted and much harder to get (I would like to see only 1 class drop per 4 years) and I think waivers and SF needs to apply to publics also. This would put Byron in at least 4A/5A and Montini in at least 5A, where I think both belong. 3A without them would be a much more balanced and competitive bracket, I would argue both would be top 4 teams in either 4A or 5A.

Institute a voucher program…let the student-athletes cross boundary lines to choose their commuting distance and potentially build A+ teams. This would be for ALL student-athletes.

You have a fixed enrollment MAX and to get accepted to your destination school/program you have to take an entrance exam and score well enough to be accepted. Limit (3) attempts across (3) destination schools. This process places academic efforts where they should be.

Only rule is you can’t transfer after Sophomore year.

Wrong. Taxes are forcibly extracted by citizens in the district, including the families of players, and subsidize student tuition. In no universe can it be said that using services already paid for is “free”.
You are correct in this. However, those who choose to go to private schools, not only pay the property taxes, but also the extra tuition and fees incurred at the private school. So, it can That the tuition is free since people proclaim. The private schools have a superior advantage.

It is not a huge surprise that the first competitive game of the championship round was between two CCL/ESCC teams. It seems the only teams that can stand up to Catholic football teams***, are other Catholic football teams (and sometimes East St. Louis).

Congratulations to both teams. It was a great game between two excellent teams. A big, big effort by the players.

Kudos to the camara crews as well. Wonderful replays, particularly on the touchdown catch for Joliet Catholic's third touchdown.

***Within assigned class levels.

Let’s hope that remains true tonight. I’d like the 8A game to be an absolute blowout but I fear it might be close for awhile.

You know what I mean bud

1. Go back to football enrollment, maybe drop highest and lowest opponent for average

2. Eliminate the waiver or do not allow privates do drop below the classes they traditionally compete in.

Both are easy and simple solutions that both sides probably agree with. 3/4 winners tomorrow know they don't belong in the class they are in. CC is probably the exception.

If the Catholics formed their own governance and league, I wonder what kind of financial implications (if any) that would have on the IHSA and what that conversation looks like

Does Head Coach Petros for DePaul winning a state title and was Asst Coach at Montini count as TWO State Championships for DePaul?
