So wait, they did away with the traveling teams?

Geez..they've been doing that at multiple size/weight classes since the 1970s at least.

Two football programs in same town with same name?Cmon man!Sounds like someone’s kid didn’t make the travel team.

As I read the article, it sounds like there wasn't going to be traveling teams anymore.

Since back in the 70s, there's been the non-traveling leagues, which is a bunch of teams of just PR kids playing against each other. The non-traveling teams just had pro team names like Bears, Chargers, etc.

Then there were also a number of different size/weight classifications of traveling teams that you could try out for..that was the Park Ridge Falcons.

It sounds like they were doing away with the traveling teams and someone decided to start a new team/teams with the same name - probably because of the name tie-in between Falcons and Hawks.

Makes sense to start another organization if there is not going to be a travel team because no way most suburban programs could support an in-house league at the middle school levels and also is not truly preparing the kids for high school competition. But really couldn’t you just pick a different bird? Eagles, cardinals, ravens, pelicans? Obviously calling it the same name was done out of spite and to cause confusion.

No doubt they kept the name out of spite. You nailed it Bruce.
