Congrats to @k1867 and @3OrangeWhips on their season-long battle for supremacy. Only one game of 153 (3OW missed one!) separate the two. And for the playoff title @BornNRazed @80sRambler @McCaravan and yours truly are tied for the lead. As we prepare for the awards night at the Karolinka Club (formerly Baby Doll Polka Club), we'd like to thank all the coaches, players and mothers who do not pepper the broadcasts with F-bombs. And while we await the championships, may I make a motion to redesign the championship trophies. Why it can't be a massive cup or a grand figure like the Heisman is inexplicable. That minimalist slab with a slightly different plaque for the sport name is inexcusable. Show some effort IHSA!

It's been a damn fine season, gentlemen. Let's go out and win six titles this weekend and spark month-long debates and conspiracy theories and proposals and general hilarity.

Iggy -26 vs Whitney. Wolfpack end the season with a Prep Bowl title. Hope to see them a few divisions down next year in the CCL as they were a playoff-worthy squad this year in any other division. Jesuits 38-7

Montini -18 vs Monticello. Is this the first ever state championship between two school that share the first five letters? Probably not, but it's a thought. Broncos' defense will shut down Thomas Jefferson's residence. Montini 41-14

DePaul -11 vs Mt. Zion. Rams roll. I talked to a friend who has grade school kids at a Catholic school in the city. A school that has almost always sent its kids to Loyola or Iggy. He told me that DePaul is trendy as you can imagine and booming amongst families there. Their athletics program seems to back that up. DePaul 28-14.

JCA +7 vs Naz. This is probably the game I am looking forward to the most this weekend. Both schools have rolled through the playoffs without much challenge. A rematch of a great 16-13 Naz win. I think it's a similarly close game but higher scoring. Naz 35-31.

MC -12 vs Batavia. After getting rolled by Loyola week 9, the Caravan have absolutely dismantled all four playoff opponents. Batavia runs into the Catholic boogeyman, yet again. Caravan 35-14.

Loyola -11 vs York. The Dukes have been playing some really good football. Loyola has been playing better football. I just cant see how York is able to do enough against the Ramblers to keep this one close. I hope I am wrong though and we end the weekend with a classic. Loyola 31-7.

With Loyola dismantling MC and LWE and ESL having dismantled Loyola, assuming ESL beats Geneva, we will end the season with an undisputed #1 with no "wish we could see X play Y" type discussions. That seems rare!

Keep knocking but you can’t get it.
Oh we have been there and done that in regards to a 6a title. I was more saying all 8 classes in one year. We have to wait for the IHSA to punish our teams enough to make sure we have all 8 classes covered though so next year might be our first shot at it. Usually they just make us beat each other up.

Iggy -26- Whitney won't hang, Iggy Offense will give them fits.

Montini -18- By 21

Mt. Zion +11- Friday night in the low teens or single digits, it won't be high scoring.

Naz-7- JCA secondary will have issues with Naz passing. Will be similar to the SF game.

MC -12- Jack Elliott will do whatever is needed to get that third ring. I think MC is just more athletic, fingers crossed!!!

Loyola -11. Weather maybe a factor, but I like LA by 14.

Have a great Thanksgiving y'all!!!!!

Maybe a year after Pat Fitzgerald became head coach at Northwestern, my Mom became a huge fan of NU. Before this point Mom only cared about teams her sons or kids from the neighborhood played for. Oh, and The Bears and The Irish. Then this sudden fascination with NU. Then this conversation.

Me: Mom, why are you a NU fan?
Mom: Cuz Fitz is the coach
Me: what do you know about Fitz?
Mom: He’s Irish and Catholic
Me: Mom I’m pretty sure he’s Irish but I’m not sure he’s Catholic, he went to a public school
Mom: I don’t know anyone named Fitz that’s Protestant
Me: speechless

Any doubt why I’m such a mess?

Good luck to everyone playing this weekend. Better luck to the guys Me and Mom cheer for.

PREP BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP
Wolves at the gate

3A CHAMPIONSHIP
Pope Paul VI

4A CHAMPIONSHIP
4A is half an 8A and a Ram is only half a Rambler

5A CHAMPIONSHIP
Hilltoppers

7A CHAMPIONSHIP
I heard Coach Lynch is forced to call up a freshman. I'll be looking for a scrawny kid in a baggy uniform. Caravan

8A CHAMPIONSHIP
I'm hoping the Ramblers offense withstands the cold and the defense withstands the speedy QB. Ramblers

Thank you, gentlemen, for another fun season of old degenerates living vicariously through these extraordinary young men who undoubtedly will go on to be good citizens. I really wish we weren't playing JCA as I hate pulling against any fellow member this week. My hope is everyone stays safe and warm and creates lasting memories this weekend.....oh yeah and that they somehow get a dome built before 10am tomorrow so my beloved has a chance against the Hilltoppers.

Gimme all da catlicks minus JCA

Iggy
Montini
DP
Naz
MC
LA

5 State Titles and a Prep Bowl.....not too shabby gents!

In an attempt to sky rocket up the standings, here are 2 picks for each game.

Iggy and the over
Montini and the under
Depaul and the over
Naz over
MC under
Loyola under

And no matter what any sandbagger wants to tell you, we all know in our heart of hearts that all the schools that have to move up a class next year will be just fine and it’s probably where they belong.
