Kankakee Bishop McNamara Head Coach Rich Zinanni, the third winningest coach in Illinois High School Football history, has announced that he will retire after the fall 2021 football season. Zinanni will co-head coach this fall with Alan Rood, currently a Mac assistant.

Zinanni is a 1965 alum of St. Patricks, now McNamara, and has been involved with the school for 50 years as a teacher and coach. He has been head coach since 1975, when he beat out legendary Lewis University baseball coach Irish O'Reilly (also a Mac alum) for the position. The Irish have won five state titles and 4 runners up.

Rood is a 1998 Mac grad, who played at NIU. He has had several coaching stops prior to returning to Mac.

Congratulations to Coach Zananni, good luck to Coach Rood and the Irish in the future.
