Kankakee 76 Thornton 0

All.... I've yapped on how good the Kays are since their first week loss to SHG. The big game of the season for them is next week when they play Crete Monee on the road. That will be a very tough game. Ratsy

Hillcrest, 72-0 winner in Week 3, just breathed a sigh of relief. However, Kankakee did not put up all those points against a sister of their own school district. This outcome is just another reason we may not see formal inclusion within the IHSA of this "season's" results. Things started out decently, but a quick unraveling has been occurring of late which is too bad.

11 touchdowns for the Kays on only 8 offensive possessions. 37 yard punt return TD, 2nd half kickoff returned for a 65 yard TD, and a defensive TD recovering a fumble in the end zone. School record for points since the merger of Eastridge & Westview back into Kankakee High, maybe all time. Thorton had 34 total yards on 33 plays... Kays had 2 interceptions, 3 sacks, 3 players with 3 TFL each...

Aveon Pittman had 155 yards rushing on 17 carries, 4 TD's rushing, and a 20 yard TD reception. Turner, 62 yards on 3 carries, TD. Ty Steward had a 52 yard rush to set up Pittman's second TD after an interception with about a minute left in the 1st and the Kays up 14-0.

Listened to the game on the radio leaving the Herscher - Manteno game. Heard the second half kickoff return as leaving the parking lot...Announcers were having great difficulty calling names because the Kays had so many sophs playing. Stopped by KHS about the beginning of the 4th quarter, watched the 4th from the parking lot - kind of eerie watching a game in a completely empty stadium otherwise...

Kankakee has been a big rudderless ship for quite a few years...Derek Hart has the chance to make the Kays into a monster...the Kays have been a sleeping potential giant...

All.... I found it odd (but happy because I attended) that Kankakee allowed fans in for their week one game against SHG. A pretty large crowd showed up. SHG was also "granted" a one week only conference membership to make the game even happen. Do you know if the no fans rule is Southland Conference wide or something Kankakee is doing for their home games?

The Kays game next week on the road against Crete-Monee I would think would be a heck of a game to watch. (unless the Warriors blow them off the field) RB Pittman by the way is very fast and quite elusive having all those moves that make db's miss him when trying to tackle. Unusual because he weighs 210lbs but doesn't run like a big guy. Ratsy

Rule for fans is the Southland's. The Kays have let in limited fans for all non-con games for all sports, and Momence played a couple games in the Kays' stadium and had fans.
