General information for anyone attending Loyola at LW-East Saturday night...

General information. Dress warm LOL! Speaking of the saving of seats. Is that a big problem in some places? Any good stories about it?

Funny story. About 30 years or so ago, back when playoff football games routinely got big numbers. We played Loyola on the road in second or third round.

Due to demand, we had 15 student buses plus tons of kids who drove. Our students took over the half of the main home stand Loyola stand. I was on field at the time but we laughed in warmups about all those pissed Loyola parent walking in 15 minutes before kick off and having to stand

Saving of seats is pretty common in communities who are invested in football. The late arrivals in Frankfort better rethink the meal at Cracker Barrel start time. Seriously there should be space for the visitors if anyone from Loyola wants to travel down. It’s not the first time the Griffins have hosted a playoff game.

And…do you have a story to share MC63. I thought this was about seat saving events. The W’s and L’s happen at each contest to make other memories. Having a seat saving destroyed by the elements with the snow fall today comes to mind for me😄.

Saving seats is a pet peeve of mine, including at midnight Mass. Once at a game a lady was saving a bunch of seats around her. I handed her the blanket covering seats in front of her and said I would be happy to move when the people showed up, which they never did. She continued being rude until my wife called her on it, at which point the lady got up and left.

Good for your wife. Good to hear someone shoving it in the face of those who think they're privileged. LOL!! 😀😀

Let's talk about the overpriced concessions at LWE, I'm all for patronizing schools when its for the kids, but a 9.00 cheeseburger with no combo that's Frankfort robbery, Winnetka would never!
Agreed! They farmed it out instead of volunteers from the various organizations on campus. Cracker Barrel or Social45 across the street on LaGrange are choices.

There is no reserved seating (laying down blankets, back rests, etc.). First come, first serve.

So much for the Chicago tradition of dibs ...

All.... Been doing it for decades. What I do and at times it ends up that the rodent has to purchase an exta ticket is this. Early arrival to the game. If the gate is open I stroll in and go up into the stands and tape down my puke green blanket that has more holes in it from years and years of use then swiss cheese. Then of couse go out in the parking lot and set up yes..... the tailgate. Ratsy likes walking in 5 minutes before the game starts to an awaiting blanket covered area on the 50 yard line. If the gate is locked as soon as ticket sales start I do the same thing and go back outside where the fun is at which of course causes that extra ticket purchase

Only one controversy I remember ever happening. SHG used to play all of their games at the public school stadium in Springfield that had seating of about 6000. Well there was this one gent that would always end up sitting in a particular area right under the press box on the 50. He didn't put a blanket down but thought in his mind he had squatter rights on this two foot section of tin.

I don't know how early he would arrive but had been sitting in that exact area for decades. Not this time. A high roller doctor in town with his family just happen to be sitting in his magical spot. He wanted them out and a huge argument occured almost to a put up your dukes incident. The doctor (also a benefactor) goes to the SHG administration and raises holy hell about all the blankets taking up seating area and what happened at that game.

It actually made the Springfield newspaper. The doctor was even quoted when mentioning blankets about one pea green one with holes in it that looked disgusting. Haaaaa.... The heat on blankets down only lasted a few games and it was back to normal as usual. Ratsy

LT - I wasn't expecting you until February 2nd.
I thought you would be crabby about the snow yesterday while I was elated. I love the snow. And yes, I had to drive in it too. Such fun. I was dressed up with suit, tie and overcoat and had to brush off the car after leaving an appointment and headed to another. It was so invigorating brushing that snow off while more was falling and the wind was strong. I was laughing while doing it.

Thanksgiving is upon us so enjoy it. Then Christmas will be coming. Enjoy the season and don't be a Scrooge. And thank you for your response. :):)🎄

Me growing up in Southern California I can’t stand the snow. I probably won’t care when I retire. Looks nice at first then you have to deal with it. Shoveling, driving in it, cleaning the car. Nope not my cup of tea.
