Their off coordinator seemed ok the few times ive watched eville. The oline struggled mightily in the 1st half vs east and he started doing qb draws and screens which put them back in the gameEdwardsville looked a little bit better in the 2nd half, but there are some serious concerns if you're an Eville fan. Aside from Edwardville's offensive coordinator being in love with trying to chuck the ball down the field every other play and not caring about 1st downs or moving the chains, the secondary on defense is now in serious trouble. Apparently, #4 for Edwardsville, Kellen Brnfre is off of the team. That is huge as he's arguably Edwardsville's 3rd best player and probably the best two way player on the team. Edwardsville's pass defense is toast without him and the offense has taken a hit as well with him being the fastest and arguably the best wide receiver. He was a key player on special teams as well. His absence really showed today. It's next man up, but I'm not so sure that'll be enough next week against Glenbard West.
I've seen every game and it's a concern for many. He is obsessed with the big play and going for huge passes down the field far too often. There's just not enough balance between running the ball, short passes and the big ones, making Edwardsville too predictable, especially in big games. The head coach even said that he's aware that they have a problem with starting slow. A big part of that is relying too much on chucking it down the field and not getting into a rhythm. Today, they started off running the ball and after 3 plays were about to score, but then fumbled on the 5 yard line. After that, they seemed to get nervous and resorted right back to chucking it down the field too much, at least in the first half.Their off coordinator seemed ok the few times ive watched eville.
