College Sports Marketing Departments team with Legalized Gambling Entities to prey upon students

I’d be heavily in favor of restrictions on online gambling advertisements. I’m all for the added revenue it brings, but I personally am disgusted by how willy nilly pro sports have jumped into taking AD $$. Game 1 of world series with a draftkings logo on the mound, what message does that send to kids and young adults?

I haven’t read much into the universities situations but it doesn’t surprise me they’d sell out their students for $$… after all look at how much the cost of tuition has skyrocketed in 20 years past inflation of any other good or service.

Guys,
My apologies.
Mentioned within is how Michigan State ($8m) & Colorado ($1.6 m) have inked deals.
University of Maryland & LSU are also mentioned as having deals but no dollar amounts are cited.
It claims that there are 4 other schools with similar deals.
The schools' Sports Marketing Departments are turning over their student email lists that the online gambling companies then bombard with too-good-to-be-true enticements to wager.

Why? Alcohol ruins more lives then gambling and we see ads for them at all over the place. There is nothing wrong with targeting students they are adults and should be treated as such.

I had occasion to speak with a counselor who helps alcoholics and he informed me that very often persons with alcohol problems will also have problems with gambling. Many lives and families are ruined by alcohol and gambling addictions. College is to educate (mostly young) people not ruin them going forward.
