College Coaches that screw up are like bad pennies that always show up

It is somewhat amazing and difficult to reconcile, but no matter how bad a college coach screws up at his prior job, there is a college somewhere that will hire him. Hugh Freeze just took the job at Liberty University after resigning in July of 2017. It was determined that he had engaged in "personal misconduct" and subsequent to an investigation at Ole Miss that resulted in sanctions against Ole Miss by the NCAA.

There is a rouges gallery of college coaches, that no matter how badly they screw up, someone will hire them or alternatively they keep their job. To add insult to injury those coaches are usually the highest paid individual at the college they are coaching at.
Who can forget, Bobby Petrino, Pete Carroll, Jim Boheim (he was able to keep his job) and Kyle Flood to name a few.

Do you believe Hugh Freeze is irredeemable?
Do you believe Liberty University was wrong to hire him? Please explain.

Freeze was involved in an escort scandal at Ole Miss, and will report to Liberty's athletic director who was at the center of a number of scandals at Baylor. Freeze says he's found Jesus ... of course, he's been unemployed for two years so he had plenty of time for his search.

Jerry Falwell, Jr., the CEO of Liberty University is a strong supporter of another public figure who's neck deep in "escort' scandals of his own.

Please don't think that I'm attacking anyone's religion. I have much worse things to say about the bishops of my own church. They're just as hypocritical as any TV preacher.

Catbox, this isn't about religion. Let take a look at Brian Kelly's tenure at ND. He is seen as the best coach at ND since Lou Holtz. At the same time a young man lost his life filming practice under his tenure, something no individual has taken responsibility for or been found accountable, certainly not Brian Kelly. There was a serious academic scandal at ND which resulted in vacating wins from the 2012-2013 seasons, once again not Brian Kelly's responsibility nor was he held accountable for this scandal.

If Brian Kelly had Charlie Weis' win-loss record he would have been fired long ago. The only time he has been on the hot seat was after the 2016 season when ND went 4-8.

The point of my rant was that if you are a successful college coach, no matter how bad you screw up, you are going to land on your feet.

Pete Carrol is a excellent Head Coach and has both NCAA Division I and Super Bowl Championships on his resume !
