anyone want to throw out any teams that have huge match ups week one that might result in a record being 5-4 vs 4-5?

I really like this JCA team, but with their schedule and geneva and WN wk 1 and 2, I see the geneva game as tone setter for a team than had a historically under par season last year. not gonna call it make or break, but close, especially with a new HC.

We have DGS or is it we have The Brook.

Either way this could be a 5-4 vs 4-5 matchup.

BR and Marist. Marist will still finish at least 6-3 IF they lose, but with the CCL Blue schedule BR could finish 5-4 or 4-5 if they lose.

Although not a thread-specific "make or break" Game 1, ya gotta think 8A LWE would like to come out atop 6A Crete-Monee in Frankfort before trekking up to Maine South in Week 2?

If you can't beat a Geneva team that was 3-6 last year-Keep all sharp objects away from PJJP!
and you are looking at another 1-8 season!

I think the over in LWE/Crete is set at 75

I don't agree with that statement at all. Geneva has traditionally had a good program. Just because they were 3-6 last year doesn't mean they won't be a 6-3 team this year. I do agree that JCA has some rebuilding to do but they will get it together and win more than 1. They should be 4-5, 5-4.

I agree that Geneva has had some good teams.
My point is that if you lose to Geneva, how many teams on that schedule can you beat?

Have to give Jaws a chance to get his feet wet and implement change. I agree Week 1 could turn out to be a big game for their playoff chances.

Per Edgy's Preview
5 Starting O-linemen ranging from 240-295 return
A feature back that has been a 2 year starter and is an absolute burner.
A 190 RB returning Starter
A 215 lb fullback type returning starter
A 210 TE/Fb returning starter

That's a lot of experience returning just on the offensive side.
PJ-You can sandbag all you want.
This team has plenty of talent.

All that returning talent yielded a 1-8 record last year. While it's true they were very young and there's an expectation that they will be improved with additional development, they still need to do it on the field. And, I submit that there is no 5A team in the state who plays a tougher schedule. Jaws has his work cut out to make the playoffs his first year. In my view, that's not sandbanging. It's reality.

Aug 25 7:30 A Geneva 0-0 1938.00
Sep 1 7:30 H Wheaton (North) 0-0 2101.00
Sep 8 7:30 H Chicago (St. Patrick) 0-0 2148.30
Sep 15 7:30 A Niles (Notre Dame) 0-0 2610.30
Sep 22 7:30 H Woodstock (Marian) 0-0 1146.75
Sep 29 7:30 A LaGrange Park (Nazareth Academy) 0-0 1293.60
Oct 6 7:30 H Lisle (Benet Academy) 0-0 2212.65
Oct 13 7:30 H Chicago Heights (Marian) 0-0 1001.00
Oct 20 7:30 A Chicago (Marist) 0-0 2717.55

You don't think they can start out 3-0?
Injuries played a huge part in last season's implosion.
If healthy, this is a playoff team.

They could be. Need to see it on the field.

I'll be interested to see what changes Jaws implements. Will he gradually change things? Will he change things quickly? We shall see.

And 5A is so weak if they get in they will make a deep deep run.

I agree this is a very difficult schedule for a 5a team.
I also think it's one of the most talented rosters in 5a.
