A phone conversation I'd like to overhear

Hello, Coach Racki? My name is Genevieve Baisley Atwood, and I'm the VP of Athletics and Fitness at Loyola Academy...
Who would be on your short list, in order of preference, if he declined?

While I understand the need/want to replace a great coach with an equally great coach, I can't see them hiring outside the current staff. Unless they are all leaving or no one wants it. Like Racki, he has built a great staff, I can't see Racki wanting to take over that staff while leaving his behind and I can't see absolutely no one from LA's current staff not being suitable to replace.

Great question. I honestly haven't given it a whole lot of thought so I barely have any specific candidates I have thought of, much less in order of preference.

Certainly John Hoerster Jr. is a sentimental choice. Don't know if we could attract very many successful public school coaches given the salary and benefits disparity.

There are some alumni on the staff, and it would be nice to see a Rambler lead the Ramblers at some point, but I just don't know if this specific opportunity should be given to anyone without head coaching experience.

Could Coach Cogs be lured out of football retirement?

What I hope they do is mount a national search and hire a proven winner.

Does Hoester Jr. Work in the building at RB? I know he was a Chicago fireman during his coaching tenure at Mt. Carmel. I remember reading he had a very similar near death heart attack similar situation his father passed away from.

I hear you, but I think the safer bet is to hire an existing head coach who is a winner. Racki certainly fills that bill, but I can understand if he wouldn't want to leave. I will also say that almost everyone has their price....

I can't believe it wouldn't be an internal hire.
I can.

Imagine you are the VP for Athletics and Fitness at LA. Hiring someone with zero head coaching experience into a program like Loyola's is a pretty big risk. Don't you think the safer bet is to hire a proven winner with head coaching experience?

Jordan Lynch @ MC? 4 seasons 2 state titles. Zero head coaching experience at time of hire. Almost no coaching experience actually.

I think the leading candidate is an current head coach with strong loyola connections. IYKYK.
