Two interesting games from the class many thought would be the red headed step child of classes this year (no offense to gingers or step children).
SYCAMORE vs. NAZ
neutral field
[2022] Sycamore (IL) 28, [2022] Nazareth Academy (LaGrange Park, IL) 14
Speed vs. D, who wins? Sycamore has always been tough and had some great playoff games against Montini and always come up short. I think this is the team that gets them over the hump and to Champaign. "But Naz plays in a much better conference". They do but Sycamore's conference is good as well. Morris is still alive on the other side of the bracket. A team Sycamore shut out. This should be one of the better games of the weekend and I won't be surprised by whoever wins but I'll take Sycamore by 4.
MORRIS vs. PEORIA
neutral field
[2022] Morris (IL) 35, [2022] Peoria (IL) 31
Peoria has two fairly recent playoff wins over Morris and as much as I hate to say it I think this will be a third. I hope I'm wrong but I think Peoria just has too many athletes for Morris to keep up with. For Morris to win they just need to pull out every cliché in the book. Slow the game down, limit mistakes, play disciplined defense, and all the others. If they can get a few early stops to build confidence they can definitely score on Peoria which would make things interesting. When Peoria does score, Morris needs to be able to recover onside kicks and not give Peoria extra possessions. I would suggest studying every second of the Peoria/Normal West tape. Peoria 36 Morris 29
