2018 IL State Hockey Tournament

Traditional hockey powers:

Loyola
Glenbrook North
New Trier Blue
New Trier Green
Providence
Fenwick

I know there have been more than just this but the top 4 have been among the best in the state since the 1980’s

Ignatius and Viator played in the Chicago Catholic Hockey League final series last week with Viator winning game three yesterday. They won the series 2-1.

Loyola does not play in the CCHL.

I was talking about the whole state not just one conference

If you click on the "High School" tab, you'll get the separate divisions: Red Varsity, White Varsity, Combined Varsity, Girls Varsity, JV and JV Combined.

And 4 New Trier teams
Interesting they put Green, Blue and White up in top tier, but only Green is still alive after 1st round. (Gray is in 2nd tier.)

Missing best in state...LFA

Lol! LA and NT are headed to the finals. I believe LA is 4-0 agains NT Green this year.

LA wins a nail-biter over GBN. 2-1.

@United Center

Daily Herald says there were around 13,000 in attendance at the game in the United Center. I concur with that estimation. Lower level was around 95% full. Middle level was about 80% full. Upper level was vacant. Several sky boxes were occupied. The place seats 20,000 for hockey.

Great atmosphere. Pleasantly surprised that I did not hear any negative chanting from either student section.

Ramblin,

Very impressive attendance for sure!

And the teams in the CCL appreciate that. Vast amount of years LA would dominate.

Best $5 ever spent for HS hockey. Was there for the 2010 and 2012 St. Rita championships. 2010 they ran out of nachos so I'm pretty sure Rocky at least breaks even. It's a great PR move for the Hawks who are hands down now the best run organization in Chicago. Seeding in the tourney is done correctly w/o worrying about geography.

Hope that the momentum carries over to 8A playoffs in football too for LA.

I saw one Stevenson student escorted from his front row seat for flipping the bird to the Loyola student body in the 200 level. Not sure if he was relocated or asked to leave the building.

Quags, last hockey state title game I was at was LA vs LFA around 20 years ago and LFA was the far better team that day.

To be fair, the 4-OT semifinal between LA and NT on Friday night/Saturday morning took its toll on LA that Sunday.

Perhaps. It certainly didn't help Loyola's dump and chase game that day, or that they kept attempting it and failing.

Maybe they should have won in regulation then. Seems that was the difference.

After LFA won the state title that year they were unceremoniously dumped by AHAI
