    Ref Question

If the ball hits the ground it would be live and treated like a fumble. Just like a pitch in the backfield. If it went forward and landed it is an incomplete illegal forward pass. Ball is dead. Enforce from the spot of the pass

    Ref Question

If he’s playing the ball then he will be absolved of most contact. If he’s not, and he’s impeding the WR from getting back to the ball it’s a foul. Find the ball and you’re off the hook. Other than that how do you define what’s an “under thrown ball”. A back shoulder looks like an under throw...

This is why! A different perspective

He lost a football game, and not because of one call or 3 calls. How is his life being negatively shaped by this event?

This is why! A different perspective

Your perception is your reality. If you have the perception that it’s always against you, then the first thing that happens will confirm that narrative for you. ESL has been an unbelievablely successful program, im sure in their runs they’ve benefited from calls as well. Other schools have...

This is why! A different perspective

If the worst mistake by another person this young man experiences is this, then he’ll have had a pretty great life. Part of the benefit of athletics is how to deal with adversity, especially when it’s out of your own control. So while it sucks, the reality is it was a mistake that may or may...

This is why! A different perspective

It’s a reality. The players aren’t perfect, the refs aren’t perfect. Just like the likelihood of missing a block on a great defender goes up as does the likelihood of an official not getting that call right every time.

This is why! A different perspective

This call gets missed every Saturday and Sunday with 2 officials on the sideline. The difference is replay comes in and fixes it. It’s an incredibly tough call to get right. Full speed, watching a ball come in and his foot touches that close for a quarter of a second. It’s a 50/50 with one guy...

End of CG - Huntley Game

I feel ya Crusader. It doesn’t feel comfortable saying anything that isn’t supporting them when most everyone else against us when the heat is on. I probably could have been kinder in my wording. In general I don’t think it’s fair to get on officials for judgement calls. Most officials would...

End of CG - Huntley Game

I suspect the line judge was able to put it together, which is impressive given what happened to him I suppose. End of the day they got it right and that’s all that matters but not a good way to get there that’s for sure

End of CG - Huntley Game

Nailed it stripes. At no point should the wing be there during live ball action. And then it allows for the backjudge to think he should be ruling and signaling on a pylon play that he shouldn’t have an opinion on. There’s really no defense for bad mechanics like this

    Ref question

This couldn’t be more false. Your description is not even close to the rule. I award you no points and request you don’t post in response to rules questions again. Please refer to stripes post for the correct answer to this question

End of CG - Huntley Game

I’m physically ill by how this play was officiated

Two referee questions from plays from games this weekend

New rule in 2023 in NCAA, punter doesn’t have the same protection if they’re leaving their original position laterally or the ball goes over their head. They’re still defenseless in terms of tgt but not roughing

Blocked Field Goal Attempt & Ruling Question

For sure. That’s a test question play, it’s not supposed to happen in real life 😝

Blocked Field Goal Attempt & Ruling Question

More equivalent to a fumble since the ball is live and will be next snapped from the dead ball spot and not the previous spot.

Blocked Field Goal Attempt & Ruling Question

Most teams don’t kick unless it’s 4th down, much less have it blocked and then recovered in bounds with time still on the clock.

St Francis Loses to Buford, Then Brawls

I’m with you. I’m not going Mills Lane and standing between fighters but if I can keep more green out of the gold bench I’m doing it.

St Francis Loses to Buford, Then Brawls

The post says the game was over but if you look close there’s :16 left. But ya, if that clock read 0:00, that’s a job for the police not us. :16 left, we gotta work

    Ref Staffing Issues

You’re right, if you don’t engage a problem fan in the right way it’s just going to escalate the situation. It really should be 100% on game management and not the officials, or coaches. Our role is to make sure the players and the game are getting our attention. Unfortunately most times the...

    Ref Staffing Issues

Not really, I knew you’d respond to it showing it’s not easy to just let ignorant comments(which that was, I usually appreciate your commentary) directed your way just slide. 1. Just because you pay to sit in an event does not then make you entitled to rant and rave and insult the officials...
