    Elliott commits to Vanderbilt

It sure is trending downward since the ongoing geo-political events starting last October. University President resigned under fire, donor support decreasing, applications dropping and campus safety currently in question.

    Week 0 Scrimmage

Sure seems like a chance for a school to possibly get some in-person scouting intel different from the normal intra-squad stuff seen in former Week 0 displays.

Biggest Question for your fav conference in 2024?

The first time I heard it a few months ago, I brushed it off, but now a 2nd time? The H-F 4A boys' hoops state title would not likely help any Viking overtures to the Southland. Also, in track & field, boys' teams have been 1st or 2nd at the State Meet 3 of last 5 seasons and on the girls'...

Biggest Question for your fav conference in 2024?

What will the 'Brook's debut in the SW Prairie look like? Is the door permanently closed on H-F's push to enter the Southland becoming the 2nd school to leave the SWSC after the Raiders? Will a single season really be enough to evaluate the SWSC/DVC merger in football?

Mainly being born and raised in that city sector, working class heritage (steel mills), then never having strayed very far in any other compass direction. Thanks for asking.

Maybe Cubs fans and folks living on the North Side don't get it, but supporting the White Sox is equal parts representing for the SouthSide and following the actual team (in that order lately). Remember ... the SouthSide is the ONLY side.

Atascocita 43, East St. Louis 13 -- final

Geez, oh man, did the #3 and anchor runners burn it up after the 1st 2 legs took care of the stick and got the winners into the mix! Thanks for the link.

If you could bring back one program....

Those private schools mentioned never got a sniff of getting into SICA. In fact, there was a short period of time, in the '80s I believe, that a group of SICA ADs were open about their distaste for private school athletic programs. This was displayed in boycotting scheduling these schools for...

If you could bring back one program....

Also, and this could be "Frankfort Square disinformation," but I remember hearing after LWN closed, that every all-conference player from LWE the next season was a kid that played at North the previous one. Tough to verify, but maybe some poster reading this thread might have the input on this...

If you could bring back one program....

Conley only played as a freshman for the Razorbacks before concentrating totally on track/field using HOF hoops coach Eddie Sutton's guidance.

If you could bring back one program....

Some good assistant coaches also came over from North and some still remain on the varsity staff there at East.

If you could bring back one program....

Some dominant Class A track/field teams from Luther South for a decade-plus starting in the early '80s. That included a year (80-81) when Mike Conley, Sr. won 4 individual events (100, 200, LJ, TJ) to score all 40 of South's points to win the runner-up trophy single-handedly, behind champ...

If you could bring back one program....

Division membership was based on enrollment and geography. Re-alignments and division addition/subtraction happened when schools or districts joined or left SICA.

If you could bring back one program....

At the time, North was not in the same conference nor playoff class as East due to smaller enrollment.

A Unique Proposal To End The Publics vs. Privates Debate...Who Says No And Why?

    Tell us something….

Decades ago I "had words" with, a then young, Jim Rose from Channel 7 sports at Gately Stadium. He and a smallish crew were setting up in the press box at the expense of the regular P.A. announcer (older gentleman) who was working a big November Saturday Mt. Carmel home game. Rose was trying...
