    Need to Vent . . .

Have you ever heard of the Dunning-Kruger effect? Look it up. I'll now put my phone on mute so I won't have to listen to your screeching.

    Need to Vent . . .

Yes, but why are they not producing? They were in a groove with the Cubs, and getting traded did not make them happy. It's a big adjustment and they haven't settled in with their new teams.

    Need to Vent . . .

Why so much negativity so early in the season? The Sox will come together and play ball in October.

    Need to Vent . . .

After a slow beginning, the game got exciting and the Sox won a close one in dramatic fashion. Reinsdorf wants another championship. The Ricketts want more money.

How about three objective measures? Baez, Bryant, Rizzo.

    Need to Vent . . .

What the Sox have in their favor is that they are not owned by the Ricketts. The Sox are just sleeping, the Cubs are dead.

    Need to Vent . . .

The Sox have all the ingredients, but LaRussa is still trying to make them click. And Adam Engel made a great leaping catch, robbing Contreras of a homer.

    Greatest Story Ever Told

I told her it was the greatest story I ever heard, and we had a good laugh at Loyola's expense. I don't imagine that many of the Notre Dame beloved shed tears when Loyola loses. I'll get the full story if I see her again.

Best bet for state championship in '22

The point is that some guys are drawn to a school--Rice, Marist, or wherever--because it's in the neighborhood and the most convenient option. Or maybe they have ties to the school by way of friends or family. Other guys from the same neighborhood may have developed an aversion to the local...

    Greatest Story Ever Told

I wore a Caravan T-shirt tonight, which caught the attention of a passer-by whose son went to Mt. Carmel and played outside linebacker for Frank Lenti. Here's the catch: the kid lived in Wilmette and travelled every day to 64th & Dante. No doubt he had a car. But Frank didn't recruit him and...

Played At All Three Levels in Their Home State

I became a Raiders fan when I moved to the Bay Area in 1978. In those pre-internet days, my scope of knowledge was limited. As for Daryle Lamonica, I misread Wikipedia, a forgivable mistake. I was responding to the spirit of the post, not writing an article for Sports Illustrated.
