So there are several things that are talked about often on this board as it relates to scheduling with these 3 conferences that I think could be resolved with some sort of scheduling alliance similar to the CSL-MSL which seems to work well. The DVC and SWSC will already be starting a scheduling alliance next season where the entire SWSC Blue and the SWSC Red champion plays the DVC. I think this is great and will create some really cool Week 3 matchups. Also last season it looked like half of the SWC (3 teams) scheduled DVC teams Week 3. This proposal would expand on those agreements and I think create something really cool for these schools and fans of Illinois high school football.

Since the DVC and SWC have 6 teams they either need to play twice like in the DVC which I'm not a fan of, or try and find non-cons Weeks 3 and 4 which is much more difficult than finding non-cons Weeks 1 and 2.

These conferences are some of the premier larger school public conferences in the state and all have issues with scheduling. The DVC and SWC need to pick up extra games Weeks 3 and 4 and the SWSC Blue and Red crossovers are absolutely brutal in terms of win-loss record on the SWSC Red teams.

My proposal is why don't we just mix all 22 teams up Weeks 3 and 4 and give them the best possible matchups in terms of competitiveness for those two games? It would mean that there would be one really longer travel week downstate or upstate, but with it happening once a year the teams in these conferences could also market it as a special event, do fan busses etc. I think it would be really fun.
Plus everyone wants to see East St. Louis play some of the top 8A schools in the state...under this proposal you get exactly that Weeks 3 and 4 by them matching up against the SWSC and DVC champions.

Doing this proposal you would reduce SWSC Blue and Red crossovers to one which you could do by previous years standings (#1 Blue faces #1 Red etc...), and you would fill the DVC and SWC Weeks 3 and 4 schedules. All of those things are benefits. Obviously the SWSC Blue schools would possibly hesitate as it may make the path to getting 5 wins a bit harder to qualify for the playoffs, but with most of those schools success over the years, getting to 5 wins isn't nearly as much of a priority as winning 8A. Under this proposal they would be a bit more battle tested heading into the playoffs. They already schedule challenging Week 1 and 2 non-conference games anyways so they don't seem to be afraid of competition.

Anyways using this year's standings and a little creative liberty, here is what I came up with as a Weeks 3 and 4 schedule for all of these schools. What do you think?

It has been an eternity since I posted here, but this topic could interest a lot of you gentlemen. Lake Zurich legend Jack Sanborn will be signing autographs and doing photo ops at
the Ludex Sports Card and Memorabilia Show at the Skyline Room near Allstate Arena on December 10th. Located at 10351 Lunt Ave, Rosemont, IL, it's the building across from the arena that houses the ticket office.
Admission is free, parking is free, and Sanborn's autograph is "free." The quotes are because Jack's appearance has been sponsored by Ludex, a new sports card portfolio app. There's an initial $20 cost, but you get a $20 credit (Ludex Loot) to spend at any of the dealers' tables. Gary Matthews and White Shoes Johnson will also be there signing for a fee, but we all know who the important guest is. The show is December 10th from 9AM - 3PM. The dealer tables are sold out, there should be 80-100 of them will a great variety of cads and memorabilia. Tim, I don't mean to spam here, but this seemed like an exception. I hope to see everyone there!

Cory McLaughlin, who has been an asst coach at Joliet Catholic since the early 80's had a stroke in Oct and is in need of help and prayers. Coach Mac is truly one of the good ones who has had a profound impact on my life, my children's lives and the lives of many people in the Joliet Catholic community. Mac is a wonderful man, teacher, coach and role model for countless Hillmen over the last fortysomething years.

The Illinois High School Association’s Legislative Commission voted Monday (Nov. 28) to advance eight proposals to amend the IHSA Constitution and Bylaws to a vote of the general membership. The Commission voted after hearing feedback from member school personnel at 28 town meetings held virtually and in-person around the state during the month of November.

The ballot containing the proposals will be available to each member school’s official representative in the IHSA’s online Schools Center, beginning Monday, December 5. The deadline to submit the ballot is midnight, Sunday, December 18. The ballots will be tabulated, and the results posted on Monday, December 19. Schools may vote in favor, against, or no opinion on each proposal. A simple majority of yes or no votes cast will determine whether each proposal passes.

Here is a summary of the proposals on the ballot:

• Proposal 1: Expands the representatives who can be nominated and elected to the Legislative Commission representing Districts to include Official Representatives and adds administrators from underrepresented schools to represent the minority at-large seats on the commission.
  
• Proposal 2: Adds a requirement for any student to meet the attendance by-law to be in attendance for at least one class at the member school in addition to other classes taken in a program approved by the member school.
  
• Proposal 6: Extends the opportunity for limited eligibility to be granted to students who do not meet the transfer by-law when transferring prior to the start of the junior year.
  
• Proposal 7: Modify the 8-semesters of eligibility to be 8 consecutive semesters of eligibility permitting no pause in semesters of eligibility after starting as a ninth grader.
  
• Proposal 8: Adds language that would prohibit school personnel from engaging in any conversation related to athletic participation with individuals representing or employed by a private athletic organization who are speaking about a student-athlete.
  
• Proposal 9: By-law 3.082 increases the contribution permitted from a school towards a ring/memento for winning a state championship from $200 to $300.
  
• Proposal 10: By-law 3.083 and new sections: Adds language related to Name Image and Likeness (NIL) activities by students by creating specific limitations of those activities.
  
• Proposal 11: Increases the number of players in football permitted to go against an opponent in the summer from 5 on 5 to 11 on 11. The number of times this may occur in the summer remains at 4 separate times. (Still limited to helmet and shoulder pads as maximum equipment.)

Get rid of this conference championship weekend and expand the playoffs to 8 teams. Eliminate the private schools. Discuss.

To come in and not know a school, but learn to appreciate it, to excel from day one, to change the trajectory, to make men out of boys. Thank you. You are the man.
